+ultimaedge Posted October 2, 2009 Share Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Hi, Me been a total newbie to this, i need some help please! I ordered my Garmin Dakota 20 and it finally came. Now i am trying to download the geocache locations to my unit but i cant get it to work........help! What happens is - i select the locations i want to download and it gives me a .loc file I open up the Garmin gps unit and have tried saving the .loc in a few various locations in the GPS unit, but when i turn on the unit and goto my geocache locations it says none there!!! Where do i save the .loc file? Or am i doing something else wrong? Please help a distressed newbie (got 5 nagging kids itching to go treasure hunting!) +Red90 Posted October 2, 2009 Share Posted October 2, 2009 You need to use .GPX files, not .LOC files. They go under drive://Garmin/GPX/ I'm not sure if non-premium members can get GPX files or not. If not, use the "send to GPS" function. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand Posted October 2, 2009 Share Posted October 2, 2009 You need to become a premium member to get all of the cache page details to load onto the unit. You can load up a single GPX or do a pocket query to get up to 500 caches in a single file with criteria you specify either in an area or along a route. Here is a great tutorial: http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm Unzip the PQ result and then place the resulting GPX file on the unit in the [drive]:/garmin/gpx folder on the device. Quote Link to comment
