Distance between caches

I understand that the rules say that there should be at least .1 miles between each cache in order to spread it out, but I would like to place a series in a local park that might be closer to one another. Is this okay?

You're not likely to find a reviewer that will approve a cache that's less than .1 mile apart.

Make it a multicache. Stages of a multi can be closer than 528 feet from each other. But make sure each stage is at least 528 from any OTHER cache (or stages of another multi/puzzle cache)

Exceptions have been made but only for extreme circumstances like a lake between the 2 spots or a superlane highway with no pedestrian crossings. Doesn't sound like your proposed hides would come anywhere close to that.

You're not likely to find a reviewer that will approve a cache that's less than .1 mile apart.

 

Unless there is a SIGNIFICANT natural or man made barrier between the caches. Significant natural barriers might include things like unfordable rivers, lakes, cliffs, etc. Significant manmade barriers might include things like an 8 lane divided superhighway or the Great Wall of China.

 

Things that probably won't qualify as significant are a stream that you can wade across, or step across on rocks/logs, a 2 lane country road, a superhighway with a pedestrian bridge, a really steep hill, heavy underbrush, a busy city street, or people dressed in clown suits who tackle geocachers trying to get past them.

If the series is seen by your reviewer as a "power trail" (s)he might ask you to make it a single multi-cache rather than several traditionals.

In places like Minnesota, where lakes are frozen over much of the year, even a lake will not suffice. At least not with our current doorknob.

Physical stages can't be within 0.1 miles, even if it is your multi.

 

You missed the next sentence: "Additionally, within a single multi-cache or mystery/puzzle cache, there is no minimum required distance between physical elements."

 

The part you quoted means that no physical stage of this multi-cache can be less than 528 feet from any physical stage of another cache.
