+South Lyon Trekkers
OK, maybe this is a question for geoaware. I just bought an Garmin Oregon 300. It displays all the cache-types by the GC.com icon. All except the EarthCache icon. The EarthCache icons are replaced by traditional icons and makes scanning for them on the map really difficult. Why wasn't the EarthCache or some other icon used? I'm sure it could be updated with firmware. Is this a copyright issue? I heard that there isn't an EarthCache Pathtag due to copyright issues. +blb9556
Possibly. Maybe the firmware?? My magellan has the icon on it's basemap but no letterbox logo. Quote Link to comment
+geoaware
The EarthCache logo and names are copyright, which is held by the Geological Society of America (GSA). GSA strictly enforces the copyright laws on its use. Garmin has not contacted us to use the logo on their devices. Quote Link to comment
+Juicepig
Garmin has not contacted us to use the logo on their devices. That's odd, you might figure they would.. Quote Link to comment

+Maingray
Interesting. Maybe an alternative icon? Quote Link to comment
HITECHTEAM
I tried to use the logo on my Isle Royale National Park Geocoin, and was told I needed GSA approval. E-mailed them and never received a reply. I used an "edited" version of the logo, close, but not an exact copy. Quote Link to comment
