+GuanoGerbil
I've been caching with my kids in the past and have always signed the logbook and logged our finds under my (our) caching name. However, the kids now want to go under their own identity and now have their own names. Can they log their previous finds without having to go back and sign every logbook that we've previously found? ao318
I had to do the same thing. Just write on their logs that they were with you and now wanted their own ID. Everything will be good. You'll also have to back dte all of the finds to when they found them with you. Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
When you log the cache just explain what you are doing. Most cachers are cool about it if they know what's going on. If they aren't, don't worry about it. Just move on. Quote Link to comment
+Cedar Grove Seekers
We helped our young cousin retroactively log all the caches she accompanied us on, some of them two years later. There were only about 20 to log - nobody seemed to mind (nobody deleted any logs). Quote Link to comment

Go for it.. as it was said above if you enter the correct dates it should make sense to the owner. My wife had close to 100 finds when she decided she wanted her own account. We entered them all over a week or so and not one was questioned. Quote Link to comment
+Okiebryan
Log them all backdated on the same date as your log just like this: Found it with my Dad. Signed log as GuanoGerbil. Thanks for the fun! I can't imagine anyone giving you trouble about that, I do it all the time for my kids. Quote Link to comment
+pppingme
My wife did. When we visited a cache, almost every time we wrote in the paper log with my wife, or with my kids, or with my family. My wife later created her own account and backlogged everything she had (we had good notes in gsak), I eventually expect my kids to do the same. Quote Link to comment

If your logs don't mention that, you may want to modify them (at least some of them), to "confirm" that the new logs from your kids are valid. Edited January 5, 2009 by Dj Storm Quote Link to comment

Yep you have to do that - you wouldn't want to get audited - while you are at it redo the logs at the actual cache. Quote Link to comment

+J-Way
As mentioned by several people, don't forget to back-date. This avoids problems where a cache really went missing after you found it, but your son's "found it" log is dated after it went missing and people think it's still there. Not back-dating will also affect your find history stats, if you care about such things. Quote Link to comment
+GuanoGerbil
Thanks for everyones replies. I've just finished logging roughly 150 cache finds for both of my merry gerblings - that's 300 entries! I ended up basically using Okiebryan's suggestion (thanks!) word for word and didn't have any problems at all. Although I realised part way through that there were a few geocachers out there who had hidden a good number of the caches involved in this project. I dropped them an email to let them know what was going on, as they no doubt would have wondered what all the dozens of "finds" were all about all of a sudden! Quote Link to comment
