Is there a way to map a PQ or some other way to map only selected caches?

 

I'm going for a particular series and want to plan my route ahead of time and would like to look at a map (on my pc) that only contains the caches I plan to do.

You can open GPX files directly in MapSource or Google Earth.

With a little messing around you could do that with GSAK Geocaching Swiss Army Knife

Yup, just load the PQ GPX file in Google Earth. When doing this, there is a time slider that will show up in the top right corner. You'll need to adjust this to display all the caches by moving the left and right brackets to the far left and far right.

If the caches are on a bookmark list, you can run a pocket query of the bookmark list and display the results online using the Geocaching.com Google Map feature.

You can create a caches along a route PQ and preview the caches on the map in the list of "My Pocket Queries" to get a general idea of the route, too. (Click on the right icon in the preview column).

The the Pocket Queries List page, under the Preview column, there is a link that looks like this:

 

 

Clicking on it produces a Google Map view with all of the caches in your PQ. That's about as easy as you can get.

When I try to do that it says this feature is only available to subscribers of Google Earth Plus....do I have to subscribe somewhere. I thought this was a "free" application.

I don't get that message at all. It opens them just fine for me. And I'm not a subscriber to Google Earth. I just open Google Earth and go to File > Open and select GPX and then navigate to the file.

 

The other way that it works for me is to open the PQ in MapSource and click on View > View in Google Earth.

 

What version of Google Earth are you using?

Just placing the caches on a map, I now use GPS Visualizer.

Simply upload the PQ zip file and away you go.

It is not fancy, just a map.
