Garmin Colorado Rechargeable Batteries

Currently have a Garmin Colorado 300 and 400T and use La Crosse Technology BC-900 AlphaPower Battery Charger with the batteries that came with the charger.

 

However, looking for a recommendation on good rechargeable batteries for the Garmin Colorado as I would like to keep a few extra on hand.

Since you probably don't want to end up booting your GPSr and finding your batteries to have drained over time, I would recommend some Low Self Discharge NiMH batteries

 

For instance Sanyo Eneloop, GP Recyko, or any of the other options, depending on what is available near you (or online, if that's an option for you). I guess you should be able to find some reviews online on which brands to choose. Eneloops are definitely a good choice, the Recyko's are pretty much as good as the Eneloops.

 

I use some GP Recyko cells in my Vista HCx myself

 

Only downside of these kind of LSD NiMH batteries is that they are currently available up to 2100mAh or something like that, which is slightly less capacity than what you see for regular NiMH batteries, that go up to (or even beyond) 2700mAh.

I am using the 2500mAh Energizers on mine. They came in a 4pack with the wall charger. I think the whole thing was like $30-$35. They've been lasting me forever.

I use the Rayovac hybrid NiMh that hold on to the charge - they work very well - I get about 10-12 hours typically in my Colorado.

I'm in the process of some battery life tests with the Colorado and I'm using 2700 mAh PowerEx (Maha) batteries that work very well. I'm getting 14-17hrs depending on back light usage.
