Donald, Daisy and Kids
Does anyone know where i can get an ammo tin from, i've looked everywhere but cant seem to track one down. Are they waterproof also? Here in Australia I get mine from either the local army disposal store or my local camping store, usually around AU$6 each. Quote Link to comment

In the USA, we can get them in an Army/Navy Store. Tight seal when closed correctly, but not completely waterproof. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Cheaperthandirt Armysurpluswarehouse Both have websites that sell them if you don't have a local army surplus store. Quote Link to comment
+H2OBob
Cheaper than dirt is probably the cheapest place online. Try posting in your regional listing. Maybe someone near you knows where there is a army/navy store nearby. Quote Link to comment
+niffir
Around here you can find them at flea market/mall type places. There's one right by a cache that I adopted, and both the original cache owner and I have picked up ammo cans there. I found one there yesterday, actually. Quote Link to comment
+jwe4i
army-navy stores carry them and i believe you can get them via the geocaching.com store. they aren't really watertight, some close tighter than others but protect you log by zip loc bags. Quote Link to comment
+welch
Where are you people buying all these junk ammo cans that aren't sealing?? Whenever I open one thats been sitting around for a while you can hear the 'whoossh' from air being suck in/out of the cache from being air tight... Quote Link to comment
+Shane & Bobbi
Also, try Princess Auto in Canada. They are usually in the Clearance section. Quote Link to comment
+stepshep
I've had luck with GeoGear Store, they paint over the yellow text on the cans ahead of time and include a "You Found It" pencil. Quote Link to comment

Maybe someone near you knows where there is a army/navy store nearby. Are they back on Cheaperthandirt? They were my chief source for years. They sold 6 cans for $19. A great deal, but I haven't seen them for sale on the website for a couple years now. Quote Link to comment
+Thrak
I just buy them locally at a surplus store. As mentioned above you can order them online from various places but I would hate to pay shipping on them. Here is a place you can get various types: Army Surplus Warehouse Quote Link to comment
