Blue J Wenatchee
There was a story in the Wenatchee World GO! section last night with an interview with Bruce Bjornstad of the Ice Age Flood Institute. He is doing a book signing this Saturday and will be speaking at a dinner in Leavenworth later that night. This is the man that knows and shows the features left behind by the Glacial Lake Missoula floods that carved out the part of the area that we know as Cache-Cadia and left so many fascinating area to explore and Geocache in. +SeabeckTribe
Wish I could come. Would love to have a signed book from him on this subject. It was really interesting when I researched it for my Dry Falls Earthcache. Quote Link to comment
hydnsek
Dang, wish I could be there. At least I know about the book now, I'll have to get it. Wish he'd give a talk on this side of the mountains. Quote Link to comment
Barnabirdy(s)
The Birdy(s) didn't spot this until Saturday morning and immediately decided to go. What's 120 miles? Fortuantely we called the number and found that the event is sold out, room for 60 and full since yesterday! . Too bad, we would have liked to meet Bruce. We have done some of his caches and have the book, one of his cohorts did a presentation up in Twisp a few months ago and we went on a full day bus trip to many of the flood sites (without Bruce). It was fun, a number of times the guide mentioned things that "we didn't have time to go to" (Lenore Caves, Steamboat Rock, Withrow moraine) which we had visited while caching. Team Misguided
I too would love a chance to meet Bruce. I've reviewed a number of his caches and found myself taking extra time with them to read all about the floods and geology of the area. His caches are on my 'Want to do' list for anytime we are in the right area. Edited January 13, 2007 by Team Misguided Quote Link to comment
Bluesman63
I have logged 4 of his caches so far and they have all been great. Off the beaten path but well worth the drive and hike. Wallula Gap Overlook has to be my favorite. Quote Link to comment
Dgwphotos
Bruce will be speaking at Central Washington University at 7pm, Tuesday, April 3rd, in Hebler hall, room 121. I will probably show up. Edited March 31, 2007 by Dwoodford Quote Link to comment
Blue J Wenatchee
Just for your information..... •April 10, 2007 Wenatchee Erratics Chapter Meeting, Wenatchee, WA. Regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 127 S. Mission, Wenatchee. Dr. Robert Young, Professor from UBC Okanogan at Kelowna, will present "Alternate Sources of Water for the Channeled Scablands". Dr. Young will discuss evidence of water coming from the Cordilleran Ice Sheet, melted by volcanoes beneath it. We'll also view a short video about the Odessa Ring Dikes. Information: Susan Lacy; (509) 787-9755. This should be very interesting. This speaker believes some of the water that carved out the scabland came from Canada. He has an interesting point of view on the subject. Blue J Quote Link to comment
