silver_2000_tj
Ok I purchased a the City Nav NT and topo and both are great programs, is there a way to load both programs on the GPS so that they over lay each other on the same screen? I like the Topo because it shows rivers and other other stuff that the city Nav does not. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
You can load them both, but you can't display them both at the same time. You have to toggle between the two. The details can be found in questions 7 thru 9 of the Map Section of the FAQ. Quote Link to comment
Dragonmaster13
Are there any hacks out there that would allow the two of them to be overlayed so they are both visible at the same time? Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
No hacks that I am aware of, and I've hung around this forum for about 2 1/2 years. You can "roll your own" maps that have both urban and topo data on them, but it is a fairly labor-intensive process. Quote Link to comment
+Klatch
Homemade maps made this way will show up in the background of any other map set loaded on a Garmin GPSr. Time intensive, but the results are more detailed than the purchased topos from Garmin. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Are there any hacks out there that would allow the two of them to be overlayed so they are both visible at the same time? Sure. Find the Topo map that you want. Recompile it as "transparent" with cGPSMapper. Save the new file to the regular Topo directory with the same name. When you load both maps, the Topo Maps will show as Transparent on top of City Nav. The only places it does not work is where there are polygons. Polygons are not "see through". +briansnat
Because the roads, lakes and many other features on the maps don't always align exactly between the two products, it might get confusing if you do overlay the maps. Quote Link to comment
+buffpup
Sort of related question. Am transferring Topos to 2 gig card through a card writer. It's for a street pilot. The whole country fits, just under 2 gig, but the durned thing says it's going to take 8 hours! I transfererred nearly a gig, mixed City Select 8 and topos, to a 1 gig micro card for my 60 CSX and it took about 20 minutes. Are we doing something wrong? Quote Link to comment
