etombs
Hi All, I am in the midst of setting up a series of Multi-caches, from paperless to traditional style cach boxes with goodies in them. The problem is it literally is not just two stages, but more like 4 or 5. Each place has another box with more stuff and more riddles. My first thought was to only register the first Geocache and let them find the rest on thier own, but then I thought I could make it a circular-multi with the last cache in the puzzle leading back to the first one. That way , the multi-cache can be picked up anywhere along the route and everyone can get a chance to find all of them no matter what cache you find first. How do I register these caches so people can find them, but not know they are linked to the other ones? It would kind of spoil the fun if you already have the coodinates to all of them before you even start. I'll post the first riddle here (without the coodinates, of course) if anyone is interested to give an idea of what the puzzles look like. Etombs Quote Link to comment

Etombs You obviously have to give people at least one coordinate (either directly, or through a puzzle solution), in order for them to get started. You can make it a single multi-cache, which may be your only solution if you've not placed the cache sites at least 1/10th of a mile apart. Or you could make it a series of caches that can be done in any order, each with a clue to the final cache. Quote Link to comment

I am fully prepared to give the first set of coodinates. in fact, I would love to give ccodinates for all of them, but I would like people to follow the clues I leave in the geocaches, instead of grabbing them all on line. Is there a way to post the treasures so they won't be connected to each other? for instance.... it says at the bottom "Other geocaches submitted by this person" Etombs Quote Link to comment
etombs
oh, BTW, they are all more than 1/10 of a mile, but not more than 10 miles apart from each other. Its going to take a few hours to figure them all out and scoot around town. Most of the time will be spent puzzle solving. Etombs Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
There are a few series here like that. Several of the parts are separate caches. In one micro container, you get the West coordinates for another part of the series. In another Micro, the North coordinates are included. In two others, are the West and North coordinates for another part of the series. You have to visit seven different locations before you finally get the coordinates for this final cache. Only the final cache is listed as a Multi-cache. The others are listed as Traditional caches, and a couple of the stages are not caches that you get "credit," in the form of a "Found It" smilie, on GC.com. Quote Link to comment
+wesleykey
One particular series here in Alabama is 8 caches long. All eight are listed on the GC web site at the same coords. You have to go to those coords and you find one cache. This one cache has the real coordinates for the other seven, which are all along the same hiking trail. Quote Link to comment

+Marky
My best advice for this is to create a series of puzzle caches, each with their own puzzle. State on each cache page, that once you solve the puzzle for one cache, you can go to that cache for clues on finding the next cache if you can't (or would prefer not to) solve the puzzles. Make one puzzle very easy so that everyone will be able to solve at least one. That's my best solution. --Marky Quote Link to comment
+wesleykey
Just curious, what is a "paperless" cache? I have coords on one of my multis stamped into metal. No paper involved, no maintenance ever needed. Quote Link to comment
