Yes, the maximum allowed distance between stages of the same cache is 12,450 miles.

There is no actual, published limit, but you will have to prove to the reviewer that you can maintain each stage.

That leaves enough room for a 6 stage multi.

I just logged my find on a cache that has stage one in Washington, and stage two is in Alaska. It has sister cache, where stage one is in Alaska, and stage two is in Washington. Visit it here...

Just put yourself in a potential finder's shoes. Would this cache be worth driving across town to find the stages? Will it hold your interest? Are the spots (or the caches) special enough that this would be a great adventure?

 

There are some long multi-caches in my area - one requires over 100 miles of driving and over 10 miles of walking. Yet they are well enough done that cachers will come out and consider it an epic adventure.

We have one around here where the stage are about six miles apart. Each part gives you the bearing and distance for the next [not the coordinates]. I couldn't find part one so it's still on my to do list.

I used to have a multi that was a 250 mile drive to log.

 

I had help logging one that went from the USA to England and back to the USA.

 

I may also be placing one later this week that would be over 1,500 miles to log all the stages.
