+WYlostinMA
I bought a Palm Tungsten E2 last night, and I'm wondering what software eveyone uses on their palms. I not really sure what I looking for. Something to look at the cache pages, and maybe something to manage caches while in the field. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
I have a Palm M500 and use Cachemate on it. Cachemate costs $8.00 to register. There are other programs that are free, but I like Cachemate, and the fee was very reasonable for what it offers. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
Cachemate on my palm, GSAK on my PC. Sort, filter, slice and dice the cache info in GSAK. The click to upload to waypoints to my GPSr. Click again to upload virtually all cache info (except pictures) to my PDA. If I need more current info, I dial into the WAP site from my Treo 650. +MadRaven
I started out using the memo software included on the palm cutting and pasting each web page was a bit tedious. but I was able to have the caches separated into categories and when I found a cache I moved it into a 'DONE' category that made it easy to remember which ones needed to be logged. I recently became a premium member which allows the download of ebooks readable in mobi-pocket reader a free download and this saves a lot of time. It is also a little easier to read than the memo screen. I miss the sorting into 'DONE' category it made logging a lot easier. but you can't have everything, although I don't see why. I user expert GPS for waypoint management and it works great. Mad Raven Quote Link to comment
+Timpat
Hi there WYlostinMA. I agree completely with Sputnik 57. I love CacheMate on my Palm IIIxe. Can't beat it! Hey, I guess I could call myself "WYlostinNY". I came from Casper and somehow find myself in Albany . Quote Link to comment
+Wacka
For the rare cache that you need a picture for, there is Plucker, which is free. Quote Link to comment
+mooreadventures
Cachemate for sure... Quote Link to comment
+MadRaven
After reading this list. I have tried Cachemate and it is head and shoulders above Mobipocket for functionality and price. Thanks to all who mentioned it. Quote Link to comment
+Jhwk
Ditto to all - Cachemate on the palm, GSAK to slice and dice the files on the PC and spit out the files needed for my palm, GPSr's, and M$ S&T. Too easy. I carry around 1800 caches with me wherever I go. Quote Link to comment
Parsa
Of course CacheMate... I do use CacheNav also since I can hook a GPS to my Handspring Prism. I also use Tide Tool since I live near the coast. It's great. A program like GPScalc or NavCalc is also nice when you have those puzzle caches is different coordinate systems (or if you live somewhere like the UK where maps have special grid systems). dboggny
when i had a palm T/C (before my wife took it) i had a gps attacked and was running cachemate and mapopolis and it was the best! put pocket querries into the palm via cachemate and used cachemte to convert the waypoints into mapopolis so they would show up on the map.
