+SalemSeekers
We are planning a trip to SD soon and I was wondering what the best method of finding caches that are very near the highways is? I found a few on the interstate, but what about along smaller highways? Just searching on the zip codes is pretty tedious. Thanks, -Lance Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
There are some different methods discussed in this thread. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
Also check out the instructions in this thread. You will have to become a Premium Member to download the .gpx files in Pocket Queries along your route and download GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife.) Quote Link to comment
+SalemSeekers
Thanks! I'm using a meridian color, so I'll go and look around for some mapping software for it. Looks like I'll upgrade and do a few PQ at the least. -Lance Quote Link to comment
+treasure_hunter
Run PQ's and use the map it option. Quote Link to comment

I find that the current best way to do this is to create a waypoint for every freeway exit along the route, load that into the point filter in GSAK and then filter on 1 mile from any exit. Works like a charm. --Marky Quote Link to comment

+Tickbait
Just gas up in Sioux Falls at dawn and head west...anything that rises far enough above the horizon to throw a shadow is probably a cachebox. Quote Link to comment
+BVCY Swim
I'm stumped. Actually, the cache is in the stump! To help un-stump anyone: I did a clinic on paperless caching at Midwest Geobash last weekend. One of the topics I covered was selecting caches along a route in either MapSource or DeLorme Street Atlas using GSAK. Anyone wanting either of these Word documents, please send me an email thru my profile. Edited July 18, 2005 by BVCY Swim Quote Link to comment
+brodiebunch
I guess I use the primitive way. I go the USPS webpage, enter in a city I will be near, come up with the zip code, then enter into a search at gc.com. I am somewhat technical but only to a point. We also going to Mt Rushmore after Labor Day so we'll be seeking caches along I-90. Edited July 19, 2005 by brodiebunch Quote Link to comment
