+BuckBrooke
Greetings. Here are a few suggested changes for benchmarking on the site. 1) Can we have the ability to watch benchmarks, similar to being able to watch caches? 2) Then, would there be a way to have auto watching on all of your benchmarks? People log them so infrequently that this wouldn't cause a lot of traffic on the server, and would be useful for the few who would take advantage of it. 3) Pocket Queries for Benchmarks!! This is the one thing everyone in the community wants. Link to comment

+jeff35080
Pocket Queries for Benchmarks!! This is the one thing everyone in the community wants. You can download entire counties worth of marks from the NGS then use freely available software to make your own queries Here's a link to tell you how to do it http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=24599 It works like a charm and I have several counties loaded on my Palm. Happy benchmarking! Link to comment

+rogbarn
The most important and easiest update to make is to get updated copies of the current NGS datasheets available on GC. The data on GC is now 5 years out of date. A lot of new stations have been added to the NGS database that benchmarkers would like to log on GC. A lot of stations have been marked destroyed and really don't need to be kept on GC although if there are GC logs, it would nice to keep them. We went thru one semi-major software update that left a few odd bugs that took repeated requests to get noticed and corrected. In fact some may still be lurking about like a thorn in our side. But nothing then about updating the datasheets and still nothing now despite repeated requests of the problem. The are a lot of helpful people in the benchmarking forum that will be quite happy to help TPTB get the database updated. Please help us Luke. This is our darkest hour. Link to comment

Jeremy
Surprisingly, the solution for locationless and virtual caches will address the needs of the benchmarking community, albeit slowly. We really haven't done a lot of updates for this reason (and for the fact that downloading and parsing data sheets is a pain in the butt). But we are trying to integrate features from one hobby with the other so we don't have to recode everything. Yes it isn't the best of timelines but we're workin' on it. Stay tuned for the next couple of weeks as announce the new solution. Link to comment

+Black Dog Trackers
I hope this homogeneity of features includes the "Geocaching.com Maps" having an option to show benchmarks instead of geocaches (a toggle box - geocaches, benchmarks, both?) with a list of checkboxes that apply to benchmarks like: A checkbox for PIDs marked 'found it' by one of us. A checkbox for PIDs marked destroyed by one of us. A checkbox for PIDs marked with a note by one of us. A checkbox for PIDs marked 'didn't find it' by one of us. A checkbox for 'not yet logged'. A checkbox for 'may be missing' (a not-found in the NGS data, marked with a question mark icon). A premium feature checkbox for YOU Found/Didn'tFind/marked Destroyed/Noted (this one would be an 'overlay' type like the last 3 on the current map legend) That would be amazingly cool !!! +frenchy750
I'd like to be able to search for benchmarks the same way as searching for caches. For example, I would like to be able to input my current coordinates and find the closest benchmarks to me, etc... That's my little .02 worth Link to comment
