bosty22
HELP!!! I just recently had to send my Magellan Meridan Platium in for service and they upgraded my software to version 5.38. Well since then my Backlikrt does not work when I try to turn it on. I was wondering if that when they did the upgrade did the sequence of buttons to press changed to turn it on??? Normally I would hold the power button in for a couple of seconds for low then for a couple more seconds for high. I am leaving on a trip to Northern Canada in about 3 weeks and I need to get this fixed before I go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks Matt Basten Quote Link to comment
+Gas Guys
As annoying as it might be to send it back to them, you may need to in order to have them fix the light - I don't think that the software changes the button sequence for the backlight. Give them a call and prepare to sit on hold for about 30-45 minutes... Quote Link to comment

tiber
Bump it to 5.40 and see if that solves the problem: http://www.magellangps.com/en/support/prod...PlatinumStd.asp I know it changes the backlight behavior, although the changelog from Magellan is all but absent. 5.40 is supposed to turn on the backlight whenever the GPS chimes. +Old Sailor
On my Merdian Marine since upgrading to 5.40; with the backlight on the unit buzzes, but its not from the beeper thingy inside ( please DON'T ask me how I know that, you don't want to know.... Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
On my Merdian Marine since upgrading to 5.40; with the backlight on the unit buzzes, but its not from the beeper thingy inside ( please DON'T ask me how I know that, you don't want to know.... The High Voltage electronics for the Meridian Backlight, gets louder(the buzzing) when it is at full brightness. Quote Link to comment
+phantom4099
If they sent you a broken one call them up and have them send you a new unit before you send in yours. I have done it and they did it for me, then they paid to send the broken unit back to them. Wyatt W. Quote Link to comment
