Repod
What does SV stand for? and yes I already did a search to no avail Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
According to this link, it stands for Space Vehicle. And, until now, I hadn't even seen those initials before . . . so I learned something new. Quote Link to comment
+CompuCash
I saw it yesterday after following a WASS info link in a posting asking about WAAS looked all over the place and could not find what it meant. OP may be asking the same question I did - only publicly. search this page for SV and you will see it a number of times ...The assumption is that the GPS receiver will be close enough to ...have the same sort of errors that the beacon station saw and ...they can be applied without modification to any SV's that they ...share a view of. No such thing as a dumb question - unless it is a dumb question. /cc\ Edited April 18, 2005 by CompuCash Quote Link to comment
+Cardinal Red
Repod Posted on Apr 17 2005, 09:46 PM What does SV stand for? and yes I already did a search to no avail I see you are new to these Forums, but since you are so aware of the search feature - this is not your first forum experience. You have indicated that you did a 2 character search (SV). I am somewhat in disbelief, but very curious. Normally I would have expected you would get this response from the GC Website to a sub 4 character search: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you are searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. Only very recently did someone disclose this 3 character workaround to me: Using # to allow a 3 Character Search If you have found a workable 2 character search, please share. Quote Link to comment

I just tried "SV GPS" in google, and it came up with several links that tie the two terms together. Edited April 18, 2005 by the hermit crabs Quote Link to comment
Repod
I did get that message that's why I put (to no avail) in. I saw it in the same place. I was reading about waas corrections or something close to that. I guess now I can ask in the wizard's forum.I can say " I tried a search AND I asked in the beginner's forum TO NO AVAIL." Repod
I guess now we can start a new post to see who has the most thoughtful answer to what SV could stand for. Quote Link to comment
Repod
SV – Space Vehicle. In GPS terms, SV refers to the satellites comprising the Space Segment of the GPS system Quote Link to comment

Use % as the wildcard character to get it up to the required four? e.g. %sv% Quote Link to comment
