+Johnny Guitar
I'm looking for something more waterproof than an extra key case. I can't seem to find one that will keep a log from getting all soggy. thanks Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
I had good luck with an Altoids tin painted with rust proof paint. I also removed the hinges from the lid, so that the lid would fit tight all the way around (the paint made it fit pretty tight too). I put the log in a craft baggie inside just in case, but the cache was in plain sight and open to the elements for around 9 months without ever getting wet. I don't think it would have stayed dry without the hinges removed and the paint though. Quote Link to comment
+Big Dawgg & Cardinal Girl
I use waterproof match holders that you can get in the sporting goods department of Wal-mart or most other stores. They are usually orange and need to be painted or use camo tape. Then epoxy a magnet on. They have a screw on lid w/ O-ring to keep out moisture. Only cost $.99 to boot. +StarBrand
Not exactly a micro but I toyed around with idea of using a waterproof (all black) flashlight as a cache once. Had rubber seals around the lamp and battery compartment. Just don't include the batteries.... Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I use the smallest Lock n Lock container (.4 cup I think) and I duct tape a rare earth magnet inside the lid. Its waterproof and the strong magnet will provide a solid hold even though its inside the container. Another possibility is to forget about a watertight container and use waterproof paper like National Geographic Adventure Paper. Here's the L & L with the magnet in place: Edited April 15, 2005 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
Erfunden
If you can't find a completely waterproof container, you can just make the log out of rite-in-the-rain paper. Quote Link to comment
+IV_Warrior
An ammo can with a rare earth magnet in each corner of the bottom? Quote Link to comment
+Camo-crazed
If you're looking for magnets and have an old computer that you don't use anymore, you cacn open up the hard drive (warning: this will completely destroy it!) and take the magnets out, or you can use the magnet in the speaker (the one in the computer, not the ones sitting beside it) then stick them into whatever you decide to use as a cache container Quote Link to comment
+Freaky Tiki Five
I get air tight, water proof, dust proof medicine bottles, and superglue a magnet to the bottom inside of it....works wonders and is always dry. Quote Link to comment
