  1. I get air tight, water proof, dust proof medicine bottles, and superglue a magnet to the bottom inside of it....works wonders and is always dry.
  2. I think it's a great idea. Too many caches in our area take you to a location of little or no significance. My children already know all about Dairy Queen and empty parking lots. I think incorporating a lesson and having to learn will make it that much funner for both kids and adults. I'm even creating a pirate cache based on the little knowledge I have of all pirates combined. It's guaranteed someone will learn something and in turn teach it to someone else. At this point Redbear, I don't think any of your caches would be disapointing anyhow!
  3. Cool little micro containers....3" false drain has a false bottom so that a log/pencil/small trade items can fit. Selling for $5.00 each plus shipping. Email if interested!
  4. I've got about 20 people at work that want to get into caching, but for time constraint reasons and policy vioaltion reasons, I can't hang out with some of them (subordinates). I would love to be able to pass that around to those folks!
  5. Hello everyone. Just thought I'd drop the ebay link in here for some cool cache containers. (link removed)
  6. I'm pretty bad at doing the photo thing in the forums. Send me an email through geocaching via the link in my profile, and I will send the photos to you when I get that. If that's ok of course.
  7. Hello all- I am selling some army Decon containers as well as some bison type capsules and faked out sprinkler heads. If you are interested, just drop a line. I am selling them for $3.00 each, and shipping will be the exact shipping charge. I have photos etc. if anyone would like to see them. Thanks!
  8. Can two cachers submit the same cache? As it has been suggested?
  9. Yeah, we both logged our names but I was hoping to be able to get a credited find. Two were quite good. Thanks for the info! Appreciate it!
  10. About 160 miles from home. That's just a guestimate though.
  11. While up in BC this weekend, I hid a few caches with my cousin. How can we both get credit for the hide? Or does the approver have the option to list it as a dual cache at the time of approval? Curious.
  12. Well, I have found the car wash cache that you spoke of...not sure about the brick one, but anyhow. I go caching with my family and it was kinda nice going to that car wash, because the DVD kept rolling in the car while I searched for the cache 5 feet away. I like the out of the way caches that are more creative, and I like the easy quick urban micros too. I have a couple that people just gripe about, but you know what???? I could care less! I know that there will be another family that is thankful they could get out for a few and find a nice easy local urban cache. I am really not big on posting at all, but people in Spokane, WA need to chill out. If you hate what's being placed, then up the standards...give people a reason to want to place difficult/interesting caches. Boo hoo...wa wa to all people that just complain. One person that has my respect right now is MedicOne. He archived my favorite cache because it didn't fit his standards (Grassy Swale). He is upping the bar and just his simple statement about why, has made me want to make better caches as well.
  13. I think it would be great. Anything to help monitor the amount of junk picked up. Plus as a cache owner it would give you an idea as to how often you should go to the area yourself to tidy up. If everyone is doing it for you then great...if nobody CITO's then it needs to be checked more regularly.
  14. Was out caching the other evening, and had to load the little one before I could get in...so, I set my GPSr on top of the vehicle thinking this would be a great spot to keep it. Obviously I had my duh for breakfast that morning. As I was driving to the next cache site (I had a vague idea of where to go) I realized I didn't have the GPSr. I was certain that it had fallen off the roof and I was down a couple of hundred bucks. Not so says the Garmin, but you do win a toaster! I don't think it moved an inch...talk about relieved!
  15. I always take a one gallon bag with me (keep a box in my pack). I never have trouble filling mine, and my son fills his as well. I have yet to find a cache that isn't in some way surrounded by other's filth. The way I see it, the more needles and other paraphenilia I can pick up, the less chance there is for a local kiddo to get hurt.
  16. I love this idea and am putting together a cache for a local park that needs tons of help by filling my cache with these canisters :-)
  17. Yeah..the west end is definitely where it will need to go. I had my son with me yesterday so I wasn't watching my travel distance from the other cache closely enough...I just wanted to place one to get some more cacher traffic to help clean up that park. Anyone from Spokane planning on going out caching for a couple of hours on Friday? I'd love to meet at a cache, or team up. Thanks wander lost for the search tip for placing the cache...that will be a handy tool.
  18. Thanks for all of these suggestions! Keep em coming...this is the most help I have recieed yet!
  19. Yeah, I have found four so far in the valley...I went to one this morning at Sullivan Park in the valley, and decided to place one myself this AM, due to the fact that there is so much trash and debris in that park...bummer is...I was a bit too close to the other cache there so I need to move it. Anyone have a quick formula for converting cooridates to feet?
  20. Just looking for any tricks with this unit. I just got one so any helpful hints would be appreciated from experienced users.
  21. If there is anyone in Spokane that wants to take a newbie along on a hunt let me know...or if there are others that are new that want to get lost with a partner, just give a shout.
  22. Hello all. I am new to geocaching and was wondering if anyone that uses the Lowrance ifinder has any tips that are useful with this unit. Or is there an "idiots guide?" I have read the manual and have learned more from tinkering than that waste of paper.
