daltonmasterson
My sister in law wants to move a TB to Germany. My question is, do I risk losing my gps at airport security etc? What is the best way to do it? Thanks. DM Quote Link to comment
magellan315
Try this thread: GPS in carry on luggage. You should have no problems bringing your GPS in your carry on luggage. Plenty of people have done it. Quote Link to comment

+bigredmed
Why not mail it to a cacher in Germany? I know that the International geocache exchange that I am involved with is still there. Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
Toss the gps and the travel bug in either your carryon or your checked bag. You shouldn't have a problem with either. Quote Link to comment
+Mr. Snazz
Why not mail it to a cacher in Germany? I know that the International geocache exchange that I am involved with is still there. Some TB owners object to having their bugs mailed around rather than carried. I'd contact the bug owner first before mailing. Quote Link to comment

+Divine
1. Do a bit of research on the caches at your destination. 2. Print out some promising cache descriptions. Ask the owner or the German Speaking forum for translations if needed. 3. Pack your GPSr, printouts and the TB along the rest of your luggage (I'd take them in my carry-on). 4. Find caches at the destination and drop the TB there. Way more fun than mailing it. Quote Link to comment

+Team Cotati
Got caught with a TB in my carry-on. Six months at Leavenworth. Trust me it ain't worth it. Have a friend in Germany order the TB to their local address. Purchase a cheap GPSr when you arrive in Germany. Prior to your return either give the GPSr to your friend or throw it in the trash. Any other action is sheer folly. And trust me they don't make enough K-Y. Quote Link to comment
Rupert2
I travel to Germany and the Netherlands once a year. I have never had a problem and typically carry my gpsr in my coat pocket. No problem... Quote Link to comment
Gernot90
Why not mail it to a cacher in Germany? Or try to place it in a StarGateCache Quote Link to comment

What Divine said and in addition: Visit www.geocaching.de, klick on the upper left hand side "Interaktive Karte" and choose the area your sister is travelling to. You get a pretty good overview (map). Feel free to ask for assistance in the german subforum (for example to find caches that fit the "spirit" of searching your sister likes to do in the area of Germany she comes to). If you don't know german, feel free to ask in english. Greetings, Tobias Quote Link to comment
