  1. I'm not sure what do you wanted to tell by providing this link - as I read it, it's a hidden affront (if it's not a personal attack to suggest that the person addressed can't even use google) and shouldn't be used by a reviewer.
  2. We received many but not all logs from our watchlist. We haven't received at least two placed logs of two of our TBs (written by other geocachers). We suspected a problem on our site, so we checked all SPAM-filters - nothing in there concerning geocaching. (And we do have rules in front of the spam filter which make sure that all emails from gc.com will be "whitelisted".)
  3. AFAIK this was suggested the first time in Dec 2003 ... but nothing visible has happened so far. :-(
  4. Not to disagree, but we have over 50,000 caches in California and no way to divide them up.... counties is probably too much to ask... Why? Because that would mean that the structure of the database has to be changed. The purpose of this thread was (and is) to ask Groundspeak to fill a field in the database which is already there ("staate") with content for countries where there is so far no content - like Austria: The names of the staates have been mentioned in the very first posting of this thread back in August 2004 (yes, twothousandfour) and which have not been implemented till now. So I think it should be easier to copy and paste them in instead of changing the structure of the database.
  5. Thank you for implementing the german states! :-) (Hessen has been added in the meantime since Wutzebears posting.)
  6. A major part of Groundspeak is coming to Europe (or is already overhere), so maybe they get aware that this feature (and others) would be useful. More than three years after the first proposal is hope the last do die.
  7. There is no real list I'm aware of. The workaround is that you chose a cache, click on "all nearby caches" and in the list you will see in which caches TB and/or Coins are listed. The list of caches is sorted by distance of the first cache you have choosen. HTH, Tobias
  8. The Unite for Diabetes-TB we asked to be allowed to start arrived today. Thanks! :-) The TB is dedicated to the people suffering from diabetes in a city in Austria - as we will start the TB in Germany it should stay within german speaking areas. We are going to add a laminated tag to the TB with the mission, we decided to translate it into german and add it on the backside - would it be possible to add the translation also to the page of "our" "Steyr, Austria" Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug? current goal: Das Ziel dieses "Vereint gegen Diabetes"-Travel Bugs ist, das Bewusstsein für Diabetes zu schärfen und auf dem Weg nach und in Steyr in Österreich Fotos sowie Geocaching-Logs zu sammeln. <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?lat=48.04&lon=14.41">Suche nach Geocaches in Steyr</a>. Greetings from Germany and all the best for 2007, Tobias (1/2 tobsas)
  9. I just want to bring this Feature Request back into the focus.
  10. For example www.geocachingshop.de and www.geocaching.nl/shop (the last one is based in the Netherlands but ship also to Germany). Greetings, Tobias
  11. The oldest thread with this request I'm aware of was started by Divine on Dec 11th 2003. It was supported with strength by a lot of geocachers. I think the regularity this feature is requested since then should convince even people living far from any language borders that in large parts of the geocaching world this would be very helpfull and makes sense to implement into the side. Greetings, Tobias
  12. Danke für einen weiteren lustigen Beweis, dass automatische Übersetzungen einfach nur Blödsinn ergeben! :-) Greetings from Mainz, Germany, Tobias Thanks for another funny proof that automatic translations produce nothing but nonsense.
  13. click, east of Lautern. I guess that the TB is still in the cache and I would assume that the cache is still in the woods. (I thought about hunting for it next weekend but I can't as I won't be travelling on my own to the game of the FCK.) Greetings, Tobias
  14. Maybe this thread started in august 2004 can be re-considered in this topic, I guess this posting should be helpfull regarding the UK. Greetings, Tobias
  15. If your're going as south as Bingen, I would recommend to look for this cache and any in the sourrounding (not only but esp. from this hider) Greetings from Mainz, Tobias
  16. We would love to have the option to switch off our stats, too. Greetings, tobsas
  17. Ok, thanks for the clearification, sorry about the misunderstanding. :-) Greetings, Tobias
  18. Didn't know that site before, but I like it. Are you (=letterboxer.com) going to cooperate with them or do you start with 0 Letterboxes at the beginning if you are not going to transfer the Hybrids? Or will they be crosslisted? +1, I would love to have a letterbocing-site with similar usability as gc.com. [...] While it is popular to rip apart geocaching.com, its staff or its volunteers, folks with issues can at least communicate with people who will answer their questions. Presuming that this will be the case with letterboxer.com as well, I can't wait... I can't see where I disrespected geocaching.com, their staff and volontuers with my answer. letterboxer.com is not running so far, so I'm not allowed to suggest to use another site for doing another hobby/sport/whatever in the meantime??? #-( I tried to give a solution, Jeremy gave a better one right after me. Well ... Greetings, Tobias
  19. If you want to go letterboxing, stop waiting. Greetings, Tobias
  20. Of course there are always work-arounds. But do you think that not to give the latest logs to the geocachers who speak french or netherlands is the perfect solution? Greetings, Tobias
  21. No idea what you wrote - as expected. ;-) If this would have been a cache description, I would have either asked the owner for a translation or just closed it. No problem on my side and of course no offense meant or taken as I would have thought that you are either not confidend enough in your skills or just can't write/speak english. BTW, if it turns out, that it's a Multi where I have to read signs in Greece, I would have been forced to skip it anyway as I most probably can't read them ... ;-) Greetings, Tobias PS: I fully agree that, if the owner is able to provide, an english description should be available. But it don't have to be at gc.com as everybody is then forced to print everytime all language versions which is a waste of paper and ink. (I even tried to invent a translation service at geocaching.de from geocachers who speak english for those who are not - but this failed totally as there are much more geocachers who asked for a translation compared to those willing to provide them.)
  22. I had to lough when I read this as your number one point. Let me tell you why: There are geocachers in Germany who do not log online. I tried to explain that there might be a part in this group who don't speak english but geocaching.com is only in english and that they are not able to log online. I was told very strictly that anybody, even a child, can learn in a minute which four or five buttons you have to push to log and grab & place a TB. And now my point of view just comes back this way ... BTW, I really overthink to pull the english description for our caches at geocaching.com. Reasons for that are that any german geocacher, and >90% of finders of our caches are germans, have to print the english description too which is a waste of paper, ink and time - but you can't seperate english and german description here. (I would provide a link for the english description at another cache listing site though, because there you can seperate the languages. And no, you don't have to be logged in there to see everything as it's open.) Greetings, Tobias
  23. Today I was able to let the PQ generated another time. This time it was within less than a minute in the inbox. No idea what happened last time, but it doesn't matter anymore. Thanks for the help. Closing this thread.
  24. According to http://www.geocaching.com/pocket/ the PQ with all our finds was generated on 1/5/2006 8:47:48 AM - we never received it. I checked the SPAM-Filter as well, nothing. Could someone please look into that? Was it really sent? Greetings, Tobias
