Mahly
Anyone have the link for the webpage that sells the external re-radiating GPS antenna? I think they were shipped directly from China. I bought one over a year ago, it works great, but I seem to have damaged one of the cables and need a replacement. Thanx in advance Edited February 23, 2005 by Mahly Quote Link to comment

+teepeeayy
Just got my external Gilsson antenna from here. It came with 2 small screws. On the bottom there are 2 screw holes, and it says "For pilots, boaters & hikers: To avoid Compass Interference peel to remove magnet" What are the screws for? There obviously for the screw holes, but what gets attached? I started to peel the sticker, but it wasn't coming off easily, and it looks like I'd peel the model, serial number, etc. info. What has anyone else done? Quote Link to comment

I presume the screws let you attach the antenna to something like a piece of sheet metal on top of a boat if you didn't want to use the magnetic attachment. On mine the stickers covering the magnets (i.e. the pink parts saying "FOR PILOTS ...") are separate from the rest of the sticker with the model name/serial number. But I have no problem keeping the antenna at some distance from my compass needle so I've just left the magnets in place. They come in handy for putting the antenna on the roof of a car. Neo_Geo
CLICK HERE and scroll down EXACTLY halfway down the page. You will see a window suction mount for external antennas labeled as "GPS Antenna Windshield Mount Bracket for Garmin GA26C GA27C and Gilsson BNC MCX antennas". That's what I use with my external antenna when I fly on commercial airliners. Edited February 27, 2005 by Neo_Geo Quote Link to comment
+Texas Shadow
I have the same antenna, actually a couple of them, and I did remove the stickers and magnets. It does not remove the center part of the sticker that has the antenna information on it. The screws are for attaching the antenna to a sheet metal base. This antenna works really well by the way.
