GeoVet
A newbie question: Is there a GPS unit on the market that allows you to enter a targets coordinates and then follow a line to the target? I have a Garmin emap,(on loan from a friend) and can't seem to figure this out. I've located several caches with it, a compass and a map. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
All of them do as far as I know. Otherwise what would be the point of owning one? Why don't you ask your friend for the user manual, or for instructions on how to do so. "Life is a daring adventure, or it is nothing" - Helen Keller Quote Link to comment
+Centaur
is to mark your current location with a waypoint, then EDIT that waypoint's lat and lon value to be the coordinates of the place you are trying to find. ALso editing the name of the way point so you can remember what it is you are looking for. -Centaur Quote Link to comment

+Night Stalker
If I understand the question correctly the SporTrak Pro and The Garming GPS V both have that ability. When you select the goto or the Garmin equivilant one of the screens will display a map with a line drawn from your current position to the goal. The Garmin handles this better than the Sportrak because the line will shift as you move to always be from where you are currently to your goal. The line on the SporTrak Pro is static. To get it to updat you have to reselect the goto location everytime you want an updated line. Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
My Vista can show either the bearing (from where I am to target) or the course (from where I started to target) on the map. Anders Quote Link to comment
+BountyHunter1
hi if you go to www.garmin.com you can down load a manual in pdf format to read at your leisure Cheers gorymorph Quote Link to comment
+bitbrain
My nephew is using an old Garmin that his dad bought for locating his tree stands. This thing has great reception in all sorts of conditions --I had like 5 sats locked in their living room-- but entering and editing waypoints on the thing is not a simple procedure. Even reading the manual was tricky. Like reading the "Handbook for the Recently Deceased"... But that's probably your best bet. Download & read the manual. dave and jaime
with the mag 315 what you can do is redo your goto from pos and the unit sets a new pos (where you are at) and sets a new trail to the goto position. similarly using routes will accomplish the same thing, it is a little more work though.
