rescue557
Exactly what is a Charter Member? I understand that there are basic members, and there are Premium Members (like me), but what is a Charter Member? Thomas Quote Link to comment
Keystone
A charter member is someone who became a premium member in the first year or so that memberships were offered. There are no differences in benefits. It is just a symbolic recognition by Groundspeak to thank those who stepped up in the early days to support the site financially so that it could grow into what it is today. Quote Link to comment
+SixDogTeam
I thought charter members were granted access to premium member only caches. Is this not true? Edited September 16, 2004 by SixDogTeam Quote Link to comment
+planetrobert
I thought charter members were granted access to premium member only caches. Is this not true? yes, they are esentially the same as a premium member only difference is in the name of the membership. all features are the same. you all get 10 pq's a day, instant email notifications of new caches, multiple watchlists right?!!? just kidding they are the same, i think, im not premium so im not really sure. they may be fooling us... +Prime Suspect
I thought charter members were granted access to premium member only caches. Is this not true? Charter members ARE premium members. It's simply a special designation for those who joined in the first year. Quote Link to comment

Keystone
No, I think it's more a case of someone needing to buy a seventh dog with 20/20 vision. Quote Link to comment
+SixDogTeam
OK,Ok, you're right, my bad, don't pile on the stoopid guy. Actually, there are ten huskies (Gunner, Kea, Nikki, Buck, Denali, Misty, Redbone, MacKenzie and Yukon), but we only run six at a time max. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
That is very interesting. At geocaching.com we use ten trained dogs to randomly archive cache submissions, but only six of them are working at any one time. Small world! Quote Link to comment

+mogolloyd
If you didn't sign up for automatic membership renewal during that first year, you loose your charter member designation like i did. I just can't strut quite like I did now that that designation is gone I have more of a slumped over mope. Quote Link to comment
+Smitherington
I did not sign up for automatic renewal. I just watched it and took care of it in time so that I maintained my Charter Member status. Quote Link to comment
