RichM
I am looking to buy City Select. Amazon lists it for $107, but it is version 5. Is there a free upgrade to 6 if I buy 5? RichM Edited August 11, 2004 by RichM Quote Link to comment
+jj3
There should be. I beleive Garmin has it set up so that if you buy a lesser version after a newer version is released you are automatically entitled to their new update. That's the way it worked with mine and several others I read about here... Anyone else have any more info? Quote Link to comment

I think you have to buy V5 by early June to qualify for a free upgrade. Please check on the dates to be sure. Call Garmin Tech support to be sure. I had purchased our V5 in May and didn't qualify. Garmin wouldn't budge. But it is worth 75.00 because of the new maps. You should be OK Quote Link to comment
Phunnla
I purchased V5 via Ebay last week and also ordered the free upgrade CD to V6 via Garmin's website on the same day. There is no charge for upgrading from V5 to V6. Phun Quote Link to comment
+Moe the Sleaze
There is no charge for upgrading from V5 to V6. There is no charge for the upgrade CD but there is a $75 charge for un unlock code to use it (unless you can talk Garmin into waiving the charge). Quote Link to comment

I didn't pay any extra for unlocking V6. (I was on the phone with Garmin Tech Support when I unlocked V5 and V6.) Quote Link to comment
