Joypa
I've been at this now for three months and I just read about travel bug hotels. I find plenty of travel bugs but I have never encountered a TB hotel. What is the symbol for such a cache? How do you know if you found one? Quote Link to comment
NightPilot
Read the cache page. Quote Link to comment
Enspyer
'Travel Bug Hotel' is only a name people give to caches as a theme. They are convenient when there is a bug with a special mission because people will go there to trade bugs. Because people just title them as such, there is no 'sign' for Travel Bug Hotel. If you're looking for a place to put the bugs you've picked up, you can just put them in a regularly-titled cache. Quote Link to comment
IV_Warrior
There isn't a special symbol, they're generally "traditional" caches. Usually located to be easily accessed from a Interesate, or other major roadway, to make it easier for travel bugs to be picked up/dropped off by those passing through an area. The cache page will say it's intended to be a travel bug hotel. Quote Link to comment
GPSKitty
As far as I know, a TB hotel will be obvious because it will have "travel bug hotel" or "tb hotel" in the name. I did a search in your area, using one of your early finds as a starting point and came up with this one. They are normally placed near transportation locations (near highways, airports) so they can be moved more easily, rather than some remote hiking cache that gets infrequent visitors. +Torry
Here's mine. It overlooks I-70 on the far east side of Indianapolis. Just an ammo box under some cinderblocks but handy. Quote Link to comment
wimseyguy
Here's mine too. The RDU TB Hotel is in back of the only hotel between the airport and I-40. All of the others are across the interstate. Many local cachers make repeat visits to move bugs, but it still gets the occasional found from someone new too. Someone just dumped a bunch in it from a West Coast swing. I got the idea from one near DIA. Quote Link to comment
