Dennisfauchez Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I posted a cache on the site and all the words clutter, no paragraphs or anything. Why is this? Quote
+PDOP's Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 If you selected the checkbox for supplying your own HTML and then didn't use the proper tags you could get the results you describe. Try editing your cache page and inserting the paragraph tag <P> at the end of each paragraph. Quote
+Hard Oiler Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Or you can use the Cache Page Editor to put the HTML formatting tags in for you. Just don't forget to check the supplying HTML box when you edit the cache page or you'll lose all your custom formatting. Quote

Dennisfauchez Posted July 22, 2004 Author Posted July 22, 2004 I can't seem to get that Editor to word... But I have gotten my page to be separated again properly... thanks everyone -D- Quote
+Amazon Annie Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Just a note - when adding HTML to a cache page, those of us with Cachemate end up having to decrypt the pages when viewing it on our PDA. Out in the field it can sometimes cause problems when trying to read the instructions. I've almost given up on a cache 'cause the < and the > mix in with the rest. Luckily I use HTML at work so I can figure it out. Quote

Luckily I use HTML at work so I can figure it out. Not a problem with adding HTML to the cache page but a problem with adding bad HTML and non standard characters to the page. All cache pages are HTML encoded but if it doesn't get interpreted correctly by the program that generates GPX files from the cache page and doesn't get weeded out by Cachemate it will finish up on your PDA. I think using MS Word as the HTML editor can be one of the causes. Keeping it simple and using a standard HTML editor and there shouldn't be any problems. Since switching to using Cachemate with GSAK and going paperless the only problem I've had is with a cache that required having a picture in order to do it. BTW the new GSAK 4.0 is outstanding - especially the ability to print. I skim through the caches I plan to do in GSAK and look for any that might be a problem on the PDA and print those out ahead of time. Quote
thorin Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 You could just wrap the entire thing in <pre> </pre> tags that way it'll maintain your spacing (ie: pre-formatting). Then people like Annie only have two tags to ignore. Thorin Quote
