+rrules
I have a Garmin Legend and just bought the Mapsource CD. I have loaded the software on my desktop and laptop computers and connected the cable on both computers. Unfortunately it does not recognize the garmin and the maps do not load on either machine. I have the GPS set to "Garmin" on the interface. I hae rebooted the computers to be sure that the serial port is hot. I have tried to allow the Garmin software connect the unit. It never works. Anybody have a fix for this? Quote Link to comment
+Geo Leo
Have you configured mapsource to send via the serial vs usb port? Did you select which maps you want to send? Have you tried sending just waypoints to your legend? Did you get an error message when you tried? If so, what was it? Quote Link to comment

+PDOP's
If you have a PDA make sure the HotSync program hasn't grabbed the port. Quote Link to comment
+rrules
The error message I get when I try the "autodetect" int he Mapsource software is: "Unable to find GPS, please ensure the following: GPS is connected to the serial port (it is); 2) GPS is turned on (it is); and 3) GPS interface option os set to GARMIN (it is). I have fresh batteries in the unit. I do have a palm pilot on each computer, but it uses the USB port. Does this help solve the problem? Thanks for your help. Ross Quote Link to comment
Cachengrab
You need to disable your Palm Hot Sync so that your garmin will be reconized by your computers. Just go to the task bar and diable hot sync. Pain in the butt but that should take care of it. when you want to hot sync palm just enable. Quote Link to comment
