+Ficky
Does anyone know of a good kit that turns a laptop into a gps? I was going to use it to get to the general area of a cache and then use the garmin etrex. Prefeirably one that can coexist with thee etrex. Quote Link to comment

+IV_Warrior
If you already have mapping software on your laptop, all you need to get is a combination power/data to allow your Etrex to talk to the mapping software on your laptop. If you don't already have mapping software, the Delorme Earthmate GPS is now available for USB. No batteries needed, and it comes with Delorme Street Atlas. That's likely gonna be a more expensive option than just buying a combo cable, and if need be, mapping software. Quote Link to comment
+bajalou
I've been using Delorme's Street Atlas USA for several years with my Garmin 12 and 12xl. Just use a Belkin serial/USB converter andf the data cord for the Garmin and Street Atlas will show you where you are. Unplug GPSr and walk to the cache and plug back in back in the car. You don't know how great it is to follow your course on a moving map. You can download your waypoints into Street Atlas as a "Draw Layer" and plan your caching. BajaLou Quote Link to comment
