rray
I'm a motorcycle rider. I've been researching this for a couple of months now and still can't make up my mind. At this point is there any good reason to by the GPS V? (Other than it is cheaper.) Quote Link to comment
+RobAGD
Well I like the V's form a bit better then the 60's. The 60 has the V beat in memory, and the color screen. Just depends on what you are doing. If Garmin came out with a V+ with 50mb of memory or an upgrade of some sort I would be all over that. I am hoping they do a new V unit to fall between the 60 and the new 2610's -Robert Quote Link to comment
Joe Foe from Buffalo
Please post details on useing a 60 on a motorcycle if you find more. I too may get one for motorcycle use mainly. I have a Garmin III+ that I used on my bike for years then upgraded to a Garmin V and used for another couple years. Now want the new stuff. Possibly a Garmin 60 or 2610. I have found these websites that may help. http://tinyurl.com/2vmkd http://tinyurl.com/2bkl2 Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
The GPS V does have a better form factor, but it's kinda slow at calculating a route, or re-calculating. If you had the right craddle, then the 60c should be good for navigating Geoff Quote Link to comment
+sbukosky
I just this summer put the Garmin V's mount on my Gold Wing and it works out well for my puttering around. I've just ordered a GPSMAP60C and will have to see about how it would mount on the machine. I expect the V will end up on the motorcycle more now than it ever has. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
At first I was excited over the 60C and CS. Then I looked at my V realisticly. I have less memory but enough to do the job. I can route alleady and my screen is sharp and clear. While having more waypoints I could store be nice I will never cache such a way that the 500 waypoints I can handle will be a limit. The 60C looks better on paper but it's not enough better to bother upgrading to. My GPS V does the job well already and will do it well until the GPS VI comes out and then I'll take another look. Even so I'm expecting a lot. Thousands of waypoints, 1 gig of ram. USB and Serial interface. It should come with the software (like the V does) Color screen readable in any light condition. The 60C and CS were a step in the right direction. But they weren't the leap I'm looking for. Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
I have 2 GPS V's and that was not enough for a trip from Detroit to westen New York State. A laptop and a GPS 60C would be a cool combo so you can update it durning rest stops. Quote Link to comment
