+shunra Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Why is it that when I open a 2.5 MB 500 waypoint GPX file in EasyGPS, delete one single waypoint and save it again, the resulting GPX file is only 180 kB? Am I also deleting relevant information about the other 499 waypoints? Quote
+GeckoGeek Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 (edited) EasyGPS trashes the file. For starters, while EasyGPS can read a GPX, it can't do anything with most of the fields, so it just deletes them. It may even save the resulting file in a binary format. Bottom line, find something else to edit your GPX file with. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. I could use a good editor myself. Maybe time to load up GSAK. +warthog Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 While on the subject of GPX files and GASK, is the only way to obtain GPX file downloads from Gecaching, to become a Premium member or is there another way? Quote

+Learned Gerbil Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 The way I look at it is that if you can afford to put batteries in a GPSr you can afford $3 a month. Quote

I figured there had to be a reason that GPX files are so much larger than LOC files... the two extra fields would not be the reason. Bottom line, find something else to edit your GPX file with. +Rosco Bookbinder Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 While on the subject, Does anyone know why if you load a gpx file into Watcher, do some editing like deleting entries then save it again as a gpx file, then load it into EasyGPS it will only show ONE entry? Quote
+-=(GEO)=- Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Rosco... This problem is related to a white space getting inserted in one of the XML tags and EasyGPS gets confused immediately on the first waypoint and does not go any further. Do a search & replace on the faulty tag and save the file again. You'll then be able to open it again. Quote
