kptom
I'm new to the geocaching game, and working with a Mac. I've read in previous threads about Mac SimpleGPS and have visited their web site a few times in the past few days. Things have gone from home page loads but every other link on the page returns "404: not found) to todays try and not even the home page loads. This is the link I have: Mac SimpleGPS So now a question and a favor. Since this is freeware, would some Mac using geocacher take pity on a fellow Mac user and send me the Mac SimpleGPS software? You can attach it to an email. Please send to: tom@coburndesign.com Thanks for your help. kptom Quote Link to comment
+TeamMoehrke
That link works for me... I just clicked on it. I use Mac Simple GPS rather frequently and find it to be a good way to get waypoints uploaded to my Legend. Not maps, of couses, but it does waypoints without having to mess with Virtual PC and MapSource. I'd say try again. Quote Link to comment
+TEAM DARROW
The site worked for me just now as well. Using Safari 1.01 Quote Link to comment
+FarSideX
The download link doesn't work. I e-mailed him a couple days ago, haven't got a response yet. Quote Link to comment
kptom
I just tried again with Safari 1.1.1 and IE 5.2. I'm on an eMac running 10.3.2. Still cannot download. Can anyone forward the file to me via an email attachment? Quote Link to comment
+FarSideX
The file is NOT there, it has nothing to do with the software you are trying to download it with. I'll take an E-mailed copy too though. Quote Link to comment
kptom
Okay, I feel kinds silly about this but... The software is still available, but the threadworks.com domain no longer has it. The owner/author must have started a new web site. The sotware can be downloaded at macsimplegps.com Those of you who contacted me privately, I appreciate your help. Thanks for offering to send it to me. Tom Quote Link to comment
+robert
At least you found it! Thanks for the update. Quote Link to comment
+FarSideX
I was also looking on the old domain, strange he hasn't put the new link there as it is the one you get when doing web searches Thanx kptom Quote Link to comment
+eff-J
Cool! I'm a new geocacher and a long-time Mac user. Thanks for the pointer. Of course, now I've got to get myself a @#&$* serial-to-USB converter. - Jeff Quote Link to comment
+aka Monkey
For what it's worth, I've tried to get MacSimple GPS to work over a vareity of hardware and software, with no success. I can communicate fine with my GPS using Link2GPS and GPS Connect, but MacSimple GPS gives me corrupt waypoints every time. A shame, because it's certainly the best interface in the bunch. +robert
I use MacSimple GPS with no problems on my G3 iBook 800. Don't know about my Cube, though. Quote Link to comment
+Green Achers
I just downloaded the program today and it does work (kind of) on my mac iBook with OSx. In all fairness, the problem I'm having may be due to the fact that I've only used GPX PQ's so far. Of the four files, only the smallest PQ (with 25 caches) successfully openned. It took a really long time but since the instructions said it would, I waited much longer than I otherwise would and it worked. Next, I'm going to try some LOC PQ's. Last point... I sent the creator feedback (because this is a beta program) but the message bounced. Too bad there's no way to tell him about that. Quote Link to comment
+robert
It DOES take longer to open on Mac SimpleGPX than on EasyGPS on the PC but I can't even begin to know why. Quote Link to comment
