  1. A completely justifiable reason for the lack of Mac support. How much work do you put into adding a feature that 5-10% of your potential market might use? Especially when even a large part of that small group has other alternatives that don't require youy to lift a finger? If Garmin and Magellan are the top players in the consumer GPSr market, I wonder what each companys market share is. Wouldn't a company like to gain a "5-10%" market share over their main competition? To me, this seems like a good reason to develop for the Mac platform.
  2. I'll try to answer as best I can. Mapsource will NOT work on a Mac unless you are using Virtual PC. With my Legend, and Map Source CD's, I can upload maps to the Legend on my eMac by using Virtual PC and a KeySpan Twin Serial Adapter. As for the other CD's you mentioned, I believe that the National Geographic CD's are compatible with Macs, meaning you will not need Virtual PC. Tom
  3. I find it pretty amazing that 95% of all computer users (PC owners/users) are so completely and abjectly threatened by the other 5% (Mac users).
  4. [sNIP] GSAK will also run with "Virtual PC" on the Mac My experimenting with GSAK on a Mac has been frustrating. But it does not appear to be the fault of the programmer(s) of GSAK. I am trying to get GSAK to work on my eMac (700MHz, 768MB Ram, OS 10.3.2) but it seems it cannot communicate with my Garmin Legend through the Keyspan USB-Serial adapter. I think it's the adapter. I looked on the Keyspan site, but they do NOT offer any drivers for the 28x (apparently a Mac only product), so when I fire up Virtual PC 6.1 running XP Home, it cannot deal with the adapter. Going from a Mac specific application, such as Mac SimpleGPS, it communicates fine with the GPSr. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I'd love to get this working. Tom
  5. Okay, I feel kinds silly about this but... The software is still available, but the threadworks.com domain no longer has it. The owner/author must have started a new web site. The sotware can be downloaded at macsimplegps.com Those of you who contacted me privately, I appreciate your help. Thanks for offering to send it to me. Tom
  6. I just tried again with Safari 1.1.1 and IE 5.2. I'm on an eMac running 10.3.2. Still cannot download. Can anyone forward the file to me via an email attachment?
  7. I'm new to the geocaching game, and working with a Mac. I've read in previous threads about Mac SimpleGPS and have visited their web site a few times in the past few days. Things have gone from home page loads but every other link on the page returns "404: not found) to todays try and not even the home page loads. This is the link I have: Mac SimpleGPS So now a question and a favor. Since this is freeware, would some Mac using geocacher take pity on a fellow Mac user and send me the Mac SimpleGPS software? You can attach it to an email. Please send to: tom@coburndesign.com Thanks for your help. kptom
