billb914
my unit didnt come with any sw just the data cable. I'd like to be able to upload/download waypoints and other data, as well as get more detailed street or places of interest. what sw should I get for either of these? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
Garmin's Mapsource Metroguide for detailed street and POI info and Garmin's Mapsource Topo if you're going into the woods. Both can upload and download waypoints, tracks and routes. Edited December 24, 2003 by Alan2 Quote Link to comment
+rusty_tlc
You can upload/download waypoints with EasyGPS. For streets and stuff you need the Mapsource products. Edit: add "waypoint" Edited December 24, 2003 by rusty_tlc Quote Link to comment
billb914
THANKS - the easygps is what I needed for upload/download waypoints. Now I have to see if I want to pop for the map one (decide if it's worth it for road trips versus what I have now which is enough for geocaching). Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
If the two types, city maps vs. top maps, I find the topo maps to be more useful in general. In the end it depends on what you are going to do with the GPS. If you never get off road then topo won't do you any good and the metrogide maps will be more up to date for city roads.
