R&R Wanderers
Can anyone help with converting decimal coordinates to deg/min/sec? I have coords of: N44.42305 / W88.92467 and want to convert them to deg/min/sec. Is there a site or book that I can use to get the needed formulas? Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
GeoCraig
44 25' 23" 88 55' 29" Multiply the digits after the decimal by 60 to get the minutes. If you want seconds, multiple the digits after the decimal of that answer to get seconds. N44.42305 / W88.92467 0.42305 25.383 22.98 0.92467 55.4802 28.812 Quote Link to comment

Hard Oiler
GeoCalc from Fizzymagic is one of the most useful geocaching utilities I have on my PC. Very simple for doing coordinate conversions and copying and pasting into the application (like Streets and Trips that uses DD.DDDDD not DD MM.MMM.) Quote Link to comment
ShaneN4Girls
I always use jeeep.com for quick coversions. If you have MS Excel, and want to do a lot of conversions at once, check out Waypoint Workbench. To use it, convert your .gpx files over to .csv, then import them into the program. +R&R Wanderers
Thanks for all the help in converting decimal coordinates. I used directionsmag.com/latlong.asp - it did the converting as I typed in the digits. I then redid the calculations by multiplying the digits by 60 and came out with the exact coords. I'm learning all the time. :-) http://neilm.com/whitejeep/convert.mv was also helpful. Quote Link to comment
IV_Warrior
Let your GPS do the work for you? With mine, I can change between various formats, and the coords on the waypoints update to the currently selected format.....makes converting coords a lot simpler, especially if you already have them stored in the GPS as a waypoint.
