CYBret
This past weekend I stopped by the local surplus store to pick up some cachin' goods. While there I picked up a deck of those "55 Most Wanted" cards. I figured I would just leave the deck in a cache somewhere, but since you can buy them just about anywhere now it doesn't seem like that "special" of an item. So, I'm looking for some ideas on something unique to do with them. My brother-in-law (who's really really cheap) said just leave one in each of the next 55 caches you visit. I've been thinking of dealing the cards out in hands and placing them in envelopes inside the caches, then offering a prize to whoever finds the winning hand. Could be kinda fun. I know there have been various poker caches before, but this wouldn't need to be complicated. Just something to keep the local cachers busy for a weekend or two. Anyway, I'd love to have some input. Leave the whole deck all at once or spread them out a bit? Make it a game or just randomly leave the here and there? What do you think? Bret "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. Fakk 2
Hmmm maybe combine the cards with TB's. Object is to get the TB and the Card to the same cache and the TB is then Caught. So release 55 tbs (or go with just the top 10 criminals) after they move out to other caches and such. Release the card saying who is wanted. The card then is to get to the same cache. Or you could release the TB's. Then after time post a card up, whooever has the TB at the time wins (though this may lead to people bogarting your tbs instead of circulating them). Just a couple ideas. I bought a GPS. Now I get lost with style. Quote Link to comment
briansnat
I'd leave the whole deck. I'd still think it would be a great trade item, because I don't see a lot of them around. If you want to start some poker related game, just use regular cards. "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. +woodsters
I've wondered about the poker game thing as people in motorcycle groups (and i'm sure others) do "poker runs". But I wasn't sure how some people will feel about that type of thing. I imagine there are some that will think it's gambling and not approve of it. Or those who think poker doesn't promote something for the family. I can't think of any other ideas of the top of my head, but the others mentioned were good ones. Keep thinking, something will come to mind or someone will post an idea that will work for you. BTW my son would love to find a deck of those cards in a cache somewhere. As for promoting something for the family, what could be more family friendly than a deck of cards with wanted people on them? ::tongue practically poking through cheek:: Dream A gave me an idea (sorta)...distribute the cards in mini-packs, have everyone who picks up a pack send me their email address, then randomly select a card as the "Most Wanted for the Week." Whoever has that one gets that week's prize, or something like that. As for Brian's suggestion, yeah, I think a whole deck would be cool to. Maybe the prize could be a whole deck. I'm sure I'll be able to find more of them. Bret "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again." Mt. 13:44 Quote Link to comment

Brian - Team A.I.
I like the winning hand idea, but the TB for each card gets a bit pricey at ~$5 per TB x 55. I've seen the cards, and even have a couple .pdf files of them. Meh. Brian Team A.I. Quote Link to comment
Erwinia of B & E
Here is a "poker - themed" cache we have put out. Most people who have done the cache seem to have really enjoyed it. Not sure how it would relate to the "Iraq's Most Wanted" theme, though. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=54612 Quote Link to comment

15Tango
I think the whole deck would make a good trade item--I've been trying to get one through the supply system of my Guard unit, and I'm about to break down and just buy one somewhere. I was able to get cold-war era armor identification and aircraft identification cards, though--soon to end up in a cache near me!!! Hoo-aah!!!
