+joefrog
This was on the news this AM. Seems this dude was hiking mountainous terrain out west. He spotted a local fishing camp and decided he’d try his luck – although fishing wasn’t his thing. (This gets obvious.) He actually caught a 25-pound fish. He didn’t want to leave it behind, so he STRAPPED IT TO HIS BACKPACK. Things went well on his hike down the mountain until a hungry cougar found his bundle attractive and jumped him. The guy came out of it just fine – no injury – but his backpack was ripped to shreds. This falls into the how-dumb-can-you-get-and-still-not-fall-down-a-lot category. Geez. Joel (joefrog) "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for ye are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!" Quote Link to comment

+Gargoyle
Don't try jumping across water to get to a beaver lodge with your GPS in the chest pocket of your flannel shirt... Quote Link to comment
+Gargoyle
Don't drive down a trail with your GPS sitting on top of your vehicle Quote Link to comment
+Gargoyle
Don't hand an expensive GPS to a one-and-a-half year old. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Don't drive real slow around a elementary school a few times trying to find the best access point or parking spot for the cache. As for that hiker and the fish...What a moron. I would of put it inside my pack. ===================== Wherever you go there you are. Quote Link to comment

The article from the Seattle Times says he was an angler (another word for fisherman). If he was only hiking he wouldn't have had a fishing pole and supplies with him. Quote Link to comment
Captain Chaoss
Wonder if the cougar is telling all his buddies about "the one that got away." Two roads diverged in the woods and I, I took the one less traveled, and that is how I found the cache. Quote Link to comment
Murasaki
um. . .never leave your GPS in a cache in exchange for a stretchy rubber snake Quote Link to comment
+Searching_ut
Never answer the call of nature after you've just got done digging around through poison ivy/oak to try and find the cache.... Quote Link to comment
+smithdw
Is that something like tying a steak around your cousin's neck to get the dog to play with him??? Goes to prove that salmon make great cougar bait. Quote Link to comment

+Dread Pirate Roberts'
Ya know...I can see how the guy wanted to keep his fish and may not have thought things through too clearly. BUT, if that had been me, I would have gathered my belongings, gone to Wal-Mart and bought the exact same backpack and never told a soul how close to death I came. I would have taken that story to my grave! Quote Link to comment
+Gargoyle
Never think you know how to use a GPS the first time you take it out - you may end up walking 2 miles in the wrong direction... Be sure to remove any trash you find when you are geocaching in the woods. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
