+sbukosky
Paperwork! I'm treasurer of Wisconsin Geocaching Association and will need to report on the treasury from time to time. I could used a simple Excel spread sheet for it but am looking for either a nice template or software suitable for a small, not for profit club. When I get all this treasurer stuff done, I'm heading to the woods!!! Steve Bukosky N9BGH Waukesha Wisconsin Quote Link to comment
umc
I'm not sure if there is a cheap version of quickbooks out there but thats what we use for work and love it. Its a rather robust application and more than you would need as it has more than we need but thats to suit everyones needs. We are going to be looking to do something similar pretty soon here at MiGO so I will ask a couple of others in the group and see what they have to say. +Renegade Knight
sbukosky, It depends on how complicated you want to make it. When I was a member of the chamber of commerce the treasurers report was nothing more than a summery of income and expenses for the month. One page. They might discuss upcoming expenses but that was it. It would probably take you longer to find a template you like then to just make what you need. +trippy1976
MiGO Actually uses a version of Quicken that came with my computer Quicken is not too bad. Microsoft Money might work too. Neither are free though. (unless you got them with your computer) These will both produce reports for you summarizing income and expenses. If you're very meticulous you can get it to report on just about anything from an incoming/outgoing expense aspect. It does not do some of the more complicated accounting items you will need. For instance, if you have not file for state sales tax exemption, any product you sell is taxable by state sales tax. In Michigan we have to file quarterly. We use the information in PayPal and the information in the cash register software we use to track sales and produce this number. We use "POS" from Dale Harris as our cash register. It's free. It's an MS Dos program but it does everything you need. http://pages.prodigy.net/daleharris/pos.htm So far this has been sufficient, just not ideal. Quickbooks would probably be ideal, but costs around $300 and just can't be justified at this point when elbow grease is free. -------- trippy1976 - Team KKF2A Assimilating golf balls - one geocache at a time. +trippy1976
I'll throw in a "me too" if anyone has a better solution for tracking expenses or a line on how to get something better at a reasonable price. -------- trippy1976 - Team KKF2A Assimilating golf balls - one geocache at a time. +TeamK-9
My dad is actually my church's treasurer and all he uses is excel. But if you take some time, you can really make an excel spreadsheet look nice, so that's all he needs and it might be all you need.... ---- "The geocacher formerly known as K-9Cacher." +Woodbutcher68
Take the cash, put it in a cache! Nothing more to keep track of! Makes it simple. Maps?!? I don't need no stinking maps! I got coordinates! There's a fine line between Geocaching and mental illness, I'm just not sure which side of the line I'm on! Quote Link to comment

+Bilder
Accounting search from Download.com Something in there may help out. Lots of shareware and such. Here are some free Excel spreadsheets for financial stuff. Freebies I worked as the Treasurer for our Union's local lodge up here for a couple years. We used Quickbooks. It did everything we needed and more. For a smaller organization, just basic quicken would do the trick. You can use your exisiting copy (if you have one) and just create another account. Can probably get an older copy on Ebay or the discount bin at a software store for under 20 bucks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never been lost. Been awful confused for a few days, but never lost! N61.12.041 W149.43.734 Quote Link to comment
