+cactus8
An inquiring mind would like to know who owns the longest operational cache in the USA? Life is a relentless struggle with the odds stacked against you Quote Link to comment
+Whidbey Walk
Ask and ye shall receive. It’s the oldest cache still in existence. Mountain Marsh GC8 Placed 5/28/2000 http://home.earthlink.net/~whidbeywalk/ Quote Link to comment
+cactus8
Thanks for the info. I guess the bears keep the vandals away! Easy rating and only 26 finds, sure would like to add GC8 to my found list. Life is a relentless struggle with the odds stacked against you Quote Link to comment

+Wadcutter
This one is the oldest, still in existance, cache in IL. Predates Mountain Marsh by almost a year. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=1542 Quote Link to comment

It didn't become a geocache until April of last year. Quote Link to comment
+Ltljon
This one shows 5/12/2000. I may have missed something tho... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=18 Quote Link to comment
+Byron & Anne
If you read the history of Geocaching you'll find that the first cache was place on 5/3/2000. Three days after SA was lifted. Therefore anything older is NOT a geocache. It does appear that the Jerry Connelly cache is older than the Mike Teague cache. Mike, if you're reading the forums, what's the story? Moun10Bike
This is the oldest one still in existence: Mingo While caches are all posted now in the order received, the first ~50 were organized by state and are all out of order by date. Quote Link to comment
