+worldtraveler
Could it be something your ISP is feeding you? Worldtraveler Quote Link to comment
+brdad
There's a few programs out there that will also install other programs that feed you pop up ads no matter where you are on the net. Gator and KaZaaa are two such culprits. Lavasoft has a program called Ad-Aware that will detect and remove such annoying programs. Never date a girl whose father calls her princess - chances are she beleives it. Quote Link to comment
+jhwf44
Nope, I don't have any here either. It could be some program like gator or bonzibuddy, that can be installed on your computer like a trojan. Get Lavasoft's Adaware. Great program! jhwf4 Quote Link to comment

When you download it there is another program on the same site called "refupdater" I think....it's something similar to that anyway. The refupdater, when clicked, will go to the lavasoft website or one of it's mirrors and download the new 'definitions' so the ad aware software can find new adware. It's similar to updating you antivirus software. Be advised though, some shareware that has advertising software embedded in it will not operate if the ad software is removed. You have to decide if you like using the shareware more than you hate popups or the possibility of your personal info going out to the 'net. Chip Quote Link to comment
Dru Morgan
But, it is a little ironic that fromt the first click on their page to the download I got about 10 pop up ads in the process. Elias
We don't use pop-ups on the site anywhere. If you're getting pop-ups while surfing the site, there're coming from somewhere else. -Elias Quote Link to comment
+OzzieSan
Never had any here. Do you have one of them search engines installed in your toolbar? Had one on a system at work and it did just what you described. Quote Link to comment
DisQuoi
Read the Symantec Security Response for a good explanation of this. Specifically, the part about "adware". Quote Link to comment
goatboy2k
Go to this page: http://www.ded.com/nonags/webt.html Near the bottom of the page is Kill Popup. Download and run it. It sits in the taskbar with a red cross through it. It will kill ALL popup windows, and beep the speaker as each one dies. Want to bypass it because you need to click on a link that opens a second page? Simple - just press Ctrl as you click the link! Or, just click the Kill Popup icon in the task bar to temporarily disable it. I have used this FREE software for a few months and it has changed the way I surf. Put it in your Startup folder now - you will not regret it! Also, AdAware is FANTASTIC... just remember to run it after you upgrade to IE6 as IE6 now comes with Alexa spyware as standard ;-) Quote Link to comment
