Trav'lin Two
I was using 4.02 on my Plat with great accuracy,2 to 5 feet, and then decided to update to 4.06. Since then I can't get within 30 feet! This even after I have let it sit outside and "think" for an hour or so. Any idea as to why the accuracy has degraded? Quote Link to comment
Thomas & Dingo
You do know that the 4.06 is not released to public, almost everybody that I have talked to that had tried it have had trouble. +DyverDown
My Platinum was shipped with 4.06 installed on it (from Magellan) 2.5 weeks ago... Quote Link to comment
Hard Oiler
Just got a Gold and it came with 4.06 installed. Not noticed any problems with accuracy so far - matches my old 315 but much more stable. Quote Link to comment
T10X
When I recieved my Plat. it had Ver.3.1 I think, it was 3.something anyway. I played with it a couple of days or a week. Everything seemed ok, what do I know, it's my first GPS. I then upgraded to V4.06.To make a long story short, I had to re-calibrate the compass. Quote Link to comment

-=(GEO)=-
About the compass recalibration... Yeah, it's true that one -should- do it every time the batteries are changed. However, I've stopped doing it a long time ago and I've seen -zero- difference in the accuracy of the compass. As a matter of fact, there are times when calibration has actually rendered the compass less accurate. Anyways, the compass in the MeriPlat is only good for a general direction. When I need a real bearing, I use my lensatic compass. Quote Link to comment
Stunod
I'm on 4.06 and am pleased with it. "Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand." Quote Link to comment
