+Seeker Badger Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I received a notification from Project GC that a favourite point had been removed from one of my caches. After contacting the finder, a caching buddy, she has also been contacted by other cache owners for the same reason. She has no idea why this is occurring. Can anyone advise please? Quote

Is she saying that she did not remove a favorite point? That somehow the system did it for her? On the actual cache page listing, her name is gone from the favorite point list? +Seeker Badger Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Yes, she had not removed any favourite points herself. Yes the favourite point in the cache page was no longer showing. She has since added it back. Other COs are contacting her as they have had the same experience as me Quote

Otherwise, that's just a strange thing to happen and may just be a glitch. She may consider posting on The project GC forums to see if anyone has an explanation. By chance did she make any changes to her profile like opting out of third party permissions? I am not a fan of this project GC feature. Edited May 8 by Max and 99 2 Quote
+Seeker Badger Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 I think she would be honest with me, and there would be no need to mention other COs or ask who should she contact / speak to regarding it. Good point about changes to profile Quote

It could be wise to check what https://www.geocaching.com/my/recentlyviewedcaches.aspx shows. If there are caches that the user was not opened recently, the account may be used by someone else Quote
+Seeker Badger Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 😱 thank you! She is currently at work, but she will definitely be keen to check that! Quote
+TeamRabbitRun Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Also, ask her if the 'removed' Fave Points were added back into her available count, or did they just disappear. If they disappeared, contact HQ. Quote
+Seeker Badger Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Interesting thought, though if it was me I’d have no idea how many I’ve got available. How should she contact HQ? This was her original question to me, who do I contact? Quote

+QuySuz Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Hi interesting to read the comments as I am the cacher that this has happened to i checked my “recently viewed” and although it only shows a certain amount there were no GC codes relating to any of the caches where the FP’s were removed One CO who is also a good friend sent me a list of 5 caches which I had found between 2022 to 2024 - there is no reason whatsoever to remove those FP’s I did go to the contact us form in the Help Centre but was unsure on what category this issue is under Bugs or Account ?? There are more listed but these two seemed the most likely i have just added a FP back on one cache but as I did so the total seemed to revert back - just waiting to hear back from the CO to see if it had actually been added and then I can complete the list I have I have not had anymore messages so hoping this is the end but who knows as there maybe CO’s that won’t message me I don’t think my account is being used by anybody else as nothing else untoward is happening, I have cacher over the weekend and all seems as it should be Where would I see if I have changed the third party permissions? Apologies for the very long post Quote
