+MD Crab Posted January 9 Posted January 9 In the last few days GSAK has refused to load on to my desktop telling me it cannot find/write to a file. This happens on two different computers, one running Windows 10 and one running Windows11. Anyone else having this problem? md crab Quote
+CAVinoGal Posted January 9 Posted January 9 It loads for me on a Windows 11 laptop. Have you tried reinstalling/repairing GSAK? Does it give you the name of the file it can't find? Quote
+MD Crab Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 I have tried all the GSAK repair choices with no luck. I also deleted and reinstalled GSAK also with no luck. The file is C:window\user\...........\gsak\gsak.ini I can find the file and open it in notebook. However gsak still has trouble. Quote

I have on rare occasions seen race conditions where my anti-virus software and GSAK tangle. You might try disabling it temporarily to see what happens. Quote

No success Just a raw guess - there's nothing inherently problematic about GSAK + Win11... What won't have changed is GSAK. Unlike other apps that surprise you with background updates, that never happens. So what's different will be database or other content that was recently changed, and is for whatever reason crashing GSAK when it's executed. Although you've reloaded GSAK, you probably did NOT clear out all of the app data storage for GSAK, so the fresh code load is using the old database content, and that may be where the problem is occurring. I'd make a sequestered copy of my GSAK data storage and delete it all, then fire up GSAK in that fresh state to see what it does. 1 Quote

+Team Brick Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I installed gsak also on my minipc. Te issues ware identical to the laptop, after trying several options, the program started in comtability mode windows 7 and as administrator, however this did not work on my minipc. Today i decided to view the regedit content for gsak and found an entry PROG~2/gsak, changed in Program Files (x86). Change the comptability mode back to normal with no administrator and tried again. It worked, so i did the same for my laptop and here it worked too. Quote
