A cache has been archived but I still cant place one in its spot? Is that still of limits?

Recently (about a month ago) in my area a cache was archived and Ive been wanting to put one in its place, and on the app the cache is gone but on the website when I type in my coords it says its still off limits. Does anyone know why that would happen?

Maybe someone submitted one just ahead of you and it is going through the approval process.

Years ago my daughter had a cache hidden and lost interest so I had my replacement all ready to submit so that when she archived hers I would have the spot locked - something similar might have happened here.

On the official app, caches 'dissappear' when they are disabled as well as when they are archived. May not be archived yet.

But this wouldn't show up on the red-circle map that shows where you can place a cache (excluding mysteries, multis, etc). You would have to submit it for review and the reviewer would tell you it is off limits. And from what I understand from the OP that is not what happened.

I can likely give you more specific information if you can give me the GC# or location of the cache in question.

Thanks to everyone that reached out, I also sent to the HQ about it and they said it might just dont be archived yet... they do have to do maintence within a month or it will be though so ill just see what happens!
