  1. I was in San Fransisco earlier this year, and it seemed to be common practice to hide multiple containers. This traditional cache at lombard st had three containers at GZ, and then four other different containers around the street area in case those got muggled. There were similar things at other caches (although not as extreme). Not sure if the guidelines have changed, though.
  2. recaptcha is still working for me. I'm on chrome.
  3. I understand and I'm not trying to say your idea is stupid or anything (apologies if that is the way it came across), just sharing why I think it's not needed. I would like a 'park' attribute, past just an amount of hiking required. Snow shoes aren't in my region either. I'm blanking on other ones at the moment. By all means, keep on discussing this idea. In my opinion just "mobile phone required" would be too vague for something like a checker, but perhaps things that are really only possible on a phone (QR code, etc). Anyway I'm just one small voice so maybe others are more supportive of this idea.
  4. In my opinion, no. Here's my list of reasons in no specific order. 1) I'd say the grand majority of cachers already have phones with them while caching (whether they use it as gps or not)... its kind of like saying you need a pen. 2) Almost all capabilities that can be done on a phone could also be theoretically be done on a computer, tablet, etc.... or you could just run home to your house to do them 3) No, it's not a TOTT. It's not a tool of the geocaching trade. It's a device that practically everybody uses. 4) No, it's not a special tool. It's a device that practically everybody uses. 5) You don't need to use certitude or a checker. 6) There are more important attributes that we need. 7) You can just write a note in the description. Don't really see why we would need an attribute -- I don't think many would be filtering for 'phone required' or anything similar that attributes are used for. The idea that I would support is a cache that needs no electronics at all -- no GPS, no internet, just clues. But that's against the guidelines. Oh well.
  5. You might want to edit your post and remove this. Somebody else completing this could see this forum and skip the first few steps.
  6. You can use Geooh Go -- costs $6 USD though.
  7. I don't buy nanos on amazon, find them too expensive -- even with shipping fees I've found drives cache closet to be cheaper and high quality (with logs!) if you buy more than 1 or 2. And.... I just noticed they closed. So shucks. Space Coast geo-store (their reference) costs a dollar more per if i remember correctly so not sure if I'll turn to them next time I buy nanos. On amazon, these seem to be the best price and they have good reviews, but they do not come with logs D: (unless you pay waay too much more).
  8. https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/how-to-hide-your-first-geocache/ Bit confused about this one. Do you mean puzzle caches, or perhaps letterbox-style caches? Biking, hiking, public transport. Grab a ride with a friend to an area with many caches. Welcome to geocaching!
  9. Map geocaches is a big button on the left. Do you not see it?
  10. I believe if you use an incognito window you can do it all over again, and get the codes.
  11. Well, unless you get a perfect score, yes, you are wrong... you aren't at the exact same location. however, you can see if you were in the correct city, region, country, continent, etc, and try to get as good of a score as you can.
  12. Your avatar is where you guessed. The line leads to where the final location actually was.
  13. I used to be really into GeoGuessr so I was very excited about this. Discovered both trackables and got the souvenir. Thanks! You are placed into a random location on street view, and you have 2.5 minutes to look around and try to figure out where you are. When you have an idea, or before your time is up, you have to put in a guess using the small map at the bottom right of the screen. A perfect score (which I got for the first time while playing today :O) is 5000, and if you are off by the entire earth you get 0. Also: Geoguessr recently became paying only. Wondering if there will be a way for us to get premium on Geoguessr...
  14. Not for me! These screenshots are on the same cache, one on my laptop and the other on the official Geocaching app (android).
  15. I find this so frustrating. Sure, ok, that's hard(ish) to code in... But the thing that annoys me most is that they don't even show the checker attribute on the app! I often do simple puzzles on my phone and if I want to see to the checker, I have to open the website instead of just checking attributes. Oh well.
  16. I'd wait a bit before getting your first FTF, maybe get 100 finds? Seeing the caching in your area, and that 7 people found your geocache within a day of posting -- something that I'd dream about where I live, I would say that there's a pretty big geocaching community where you live. You need to be ready to get that notification, hop in your car immediately, and find a FTF -- something that can range from an LPH to a long hike in the woods.
  17. I find it dumb that just a stamp completly overrides the cache type. If anything, LBHs should be determined by the style of hide (giving clues from starting location). I have a letterbox style mystery cache. Using an intersection wasn't enough GPS usage, so I had to use a projection as one of my steps.
  18. My geocaching isn't crashing, but I am also chalk-full of glitches at the moment (starting a few days ago). Selected icons are overlapped, multiple icons selected at once (both seen in below photo), deleted images still showing up in gallery after reloading and restarting app... 19. I'm assuming you are talking about your puzzle "North Beach". Currently, your posted coordinates are the same as the final coords. Yes, the final coords are hidden, but your posted coords are the same as them. So we do see them automatically put into the checker. Change your posted coords to something like S 30° 28.000' E 153° 02.000', or something else that is not where the cache is actually hidden. You have to a) make sure the posted coordinates are on public property, hopefully in the middle of an intersection or something that wouldn't actually contain a cache or b) clearly put NOTHING AT POSTED COORDS or something like that at the top of your cache page, as not to confuse beginner cachers. Oh, and also, the coords you gave us are NOT what the puzzle solves for. You'll probably want to fix that. Three digits is what is widely accepted, the checker will give the green light to anybody who just doesn't put the fourth digit.
  20. Are you on the app? That's the only photo I see on the website as well. Hey, if it's only a problem for me, that's great. Thanks!
  21. GCAMK40. Need to remove photo as the owner of the photo asked that I remove it. It is a map of the park. Thanks
  22. Already did that, doesn't work. D: It's been two days, seems like it should've updated by now. Thanks
