So I received an email about adventure labs and no where does it mention if you need to be a premium member.

You do not need to be a Premium member to play Adventure Labs. You may have received an email about Adventure Day: https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2024/09/save-the-date-adventure-day-is-october-19/. You can download the Adventure Lab app here: https://www.geocaching.com/sites/adventure-lab/en/.
