Hello geocachers, is it possible to gift a premium membership to a friend in a shorter period of time, like monthly or quarterly, instead of annually?

Volunteers have the ability to offer monthly vouchers, but only to Basic Members... ask your local reviewer, by instance.

Thought that I remembered reading that a one-time temporary membership from a Volunteer or HQ for a basic member (who's never been a PM) was only good for a week. 

I believe that only that member can ask for it as well...

As to anything other-than a one-year PM, I've never seen it, but maybe that's something that contacting Geocaching HQ can help you with.

Does your friend have the Official Geocaching App installed (on Apple iOS or Android)?  If so take a look at the in-App Purchases.  There are 30-day memberships listed, but the Apps show many previous prices, not necessarily the most current offers. 

[EDIT]:  The iOS version of the App offers a $6.99 monthly PM.  I can also check Android if you like.

 

The reason I ask is, you may give your friend a Google Play or Apple Store gift card or credit to cover however many months you'd like to gift.  The recipient may then use the funds to upgrade the App (to become a PM for a time).  Beware that such a payment through an App requires extra time to process.  At least a couple of hours before the benefits appear in the App and on the web site.  Maybe plan for it to be processed by the following day.

As a Reviewer, I would like to emphasize the word "ability" in this post.  I do not provide 30 day trial memberships "on demand," as it takes some work to process the request.  I save them for making gifts of my own volition.  I'm a volunteer.  For free premium trials "on demand," a geocacher can write to HQ's paid staff.

Yes. Although, only premium members can do it like  for instance i tried it when i had basic nothing worked it said i didnt pay premium so i couldnt gift it to them.
