+nitefall Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 Hello all, My wiffe and I are moving from Boston to the Seattle area at the end of this summer. I have a project I want to try out. I am want to release 16 Pooping Ducks into the wild with Travel Bugs attached. The idea is to see how quickly they can arrive in the Seattle area and if they can get there before us. Now for the Favor.... I need a cache owner in the Seattle area who has a large cache, and wouldn't mind if these little ducky keychains used his/her cache as a final destination. The reason I ask for a large cache is that there is the potential (however unlikely) for all 16 ducks to end up in the cache at the same time. If they were to arrive sbefore we did, we would not be able to collect them before we arrived (obviously) So I guess I am looking for a host for my Duckies... If anybody is interested in hosting my ducks, please let me know... my address is nitefall@mac.com Thanks [This message was edited by Nitefall on March 18, 2002 at 01:19 PM.] Quote
+makaio Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 Sending a bunch of Ducks to Dawg country? Don't be surprised if your request goes unanswered! Once you move here you'll quickly become aware of the heated rivalry between the Oregon Ducks (Eugene) and the Washington Huskies (Seattle). I'm sure someone up there will be happy to give your Ducks a resting spot, but don't be surprised if they each end up with a big "W" on their wings. Of course, being "pooping" ducks, what better place to send them than to Seattle GO DUCKS! All kidding aside, check with Jeremy (contact@geocaching.com) as he's in Seattle and could probably recommend an adequate sized cache - his own or anothers - to send them to. Heck, maybe you should just make the final location the Groundspeak HQ and have Jeremy collect them as they arrive [This message was edited by makaio on March 18, 2002 at 03:35 PM.] Quote

Moun10Bike Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 It's a little bit north of Seattle proper, but a fitting location would be EraSeek's Haiku Duck cache. The only potential problem is that the container might be too small for your purposes, as seen in this photo. You are welcome to use any of my caches as a destination, although most of the ones I have near Seattle are situated a ways away from the city limits (on the eastern side of the metropolitan area around Redmond). +EraSeek Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 The size of the container at Haiku Duck has increased since Moun10Bike was there. I would be happy to host your ducks. I've had 2 generations of Haiku Ducks in the cache and it is now empty of ducks so it would be a perfect fit. E Mail me if you wish. Quote
+Wander Lost Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 It's a little south of Seattle but Misguided One just placed an ammo can cache in Kent. That should be large enough for the ducky's. The end is just the beginning "No matter where you go, there you are." -- Buckaroo Banzai Quote
+misguided one Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 Wander Lost speaks well for me (she is my wife after all). I would be more than happy to host your "poopers". Besides, my family supports the COUGS of WSU, not them silly DAWGS. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little. Quote

+nitefall Posted March 19, 2002 Author Posted March 19, 2002 Thanks for all the info... I think I am going to take EraSeek up on his offer, as he is clearly set up to properly tend my Ducklings... Keep an eye out for a Cache called Make Way for Ducklings Pt. 1 (It doesn't exist yet)... That will be the starting point on or about June 1.. It will containt he coordinates of Makeway For Ducklings Pt. 2 which will be the starting point for the ducks... There is much necessary preparation before these little duckies can begin their journey. Quote
