BSLLM
Hi all since some week, my profile page doesn't display the profile description (end-user editable section). web page is: https://www.geocaching.com/profile/ (need to be connected) I try again with a simple text (without html at all) and this doesn't work too. I see nothing in the section "Information de profil". I'm not premium, and I tried to refresh (SHIFT CTRL I) my browser without success (GG Chrome latest version). Did you reproduce this error/bug ? Do you confirm it ? If already known, how to track it ? I add an image of a JavaScript error encountered for this page (maybe related maybe not) : http://dl.free.fr/fKwLJZWL1 Regards BSLLM Quote Link to comment
+Team DEMP
Hi all since some week, my profile page doesn't display the profile description (end-user editable section). web page is: https://www.geocaching.com/profile/ (need to be connected) I see a bunch of text and a picture for your bio. Try a different browser on the same computer - maybe your browser cached the broken view. Edited October 16, 2016 by Team DEMP Quote Link to comment
+woodnuts
same for me, works in edge and firefox. but not in chrome - strange Quote Link to comment
+Team DEMP
Try in a Chrome incognito window. If it works something is being cached by your browser.. Quote Link to comment
+Cachologen
Some french text, an image, two horizontal lines, a unordered list, ... No real problems here with Chrome and Firefox, both in Version 49, on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS The only visible error is that the last bullet point of the list get's truncated or something. This seems to come from a div - it's generated by the site - with the id "ctl00_ContentBody_ProfilePanel1_uxAbuseReport" - that overlaps your content. First - maybe not best - workaround that comes to my mind is to add style="margin-bottom: 20px;" to the list (ul-tag). There is another error, but I have no idea if it has some impact on the rendering of the page: All user supplied content get's nested in a span (id = profile-content) automatically, which leads to block elements nested inside inline elements and is invalid html. Oh, and there's also an iframe involved, some javascript doing something, a bunch of errors on the debugging console ... ok at this point I think I'm just too inexperienced to understand modern webdesign of a huge project like geocaching.com . +TT_Guru
I have the same problem on 2 different laptops. It works with Firefox but not with Chrome . So how can I remove the stuff that Chrome cached? I deleted all cookies etc in Chrome but the profile information is still not shown. Can you advice? Quote Link to comment

That is not the same as deleting cookies. If it works in an incognito window on the same computer, it's your browser instance that is caching something. Browsers are becoming more and more aggressive and an incognito window won't use anything cached. You need to launch a new incognito each time you want to test since once you log into GC.com, that incognito window will remember it until you launch a new window. I'm using Chrome and see your stats show fine on your profile page. Quote Link to comment
+woodnuts
thanks for the tip, it shows fine in an incognito windows. So something is being cached by the browser ? any ideas on how to proceed ? Edited October 17, 2016 by woodnuts Quote Link to comment
+BlackRose67
same for me, works in edge and firefox. but not in chrome - strange Are you using GC Little Helper? If I disable GCLH, it displays correctly in Chrome. As far as I can tell, this only started happening after my laptop updated to Windows 10 Anniversary edition. GCLH hasn't been updated since June of July, so not sure why this is happening now. Quote Link to comment
+woodnuts
yes, that's the same with me. I disable GCLH and it displays. Thanks for all the help Quote Link to comment
BSLLM
Hello - I don't have "GC Little Helper" - I tried same browser same host but in an >>incognito tab<<: I always got same javascript errors but it works: I see my profile section. - I got no issue with IE11 - I try to remove all cookies for this website I always got the issue with GGchrome (normal tab) - I try to disable adblock and GCVote extension I always got the issue I notice the following additional javascript error jquery.min.js:2 Sandbox access violation: Blocked a frame at "https://www.geocaching.com" from accessing a frame at "https://www.geocaching.com". The frame requesting access is sandboxed and lacks the "allow-same-origin" flag. Regards Edited October 18, 2016 by BSLLM Quote Link to comment

+The A-Team
somebody works on this bug ? track it ? It doesn't seem like there's a bug, though. I can view your profile just fine in multiple browsers (including Chrome), so the problem is likely on your end. You should try clearing your browser cache (not cookies) as has been suggested already and see if that helps. Quote Link to comment

You should try clearing your browser cache (not cookies) as has been suggested already and see if that helps. I had tried to clean the cache. This was not a fix. Note: in addition to clean the cache via ggchrome settings menu (what I've done too), when using GGChrome in developer mode, you have a way to live "disable the cache"(a checkbox "disable cache" on network tab) Anyway I retry following your post and I found the fix for me: the ggchrome extension "chromeIPass 2.7.2" (Keepass helper) produces this issue. In incognito tab, all extensions are disabled; and that explain the difference (for all of us). You were right: it was on my end due to this extension. Thanks a lot for your help! This subject is fixed for me Edited October 21, 2016 by BSLLM Quote Link to comment
+DanOCan
Interesting. I just noticed this today on my profile. I'll chalk it up to my ChromeIPass extension but it's odd that it was never an issue before. Quote Link to comment
+Nilymouse
I also have this problem with the chromeIPass extension. It started about two weeks ago. Are you working on the bug? Quote Link to comment
+Mike Fitz
I don't have the Ipass extension nor does my girlfriend but we do have gc little helper installed and the profile stats for Project GC haven't been showing up for a couple weeks. The codes for other things like gc.com friends to find and the new one for the ghosts of haunted hides don't show up in Chrome either. It's just blank under profile information. Works fine in Firefox. If I disable gc little helper they do show up but I love that extension... Seems like something is going on with certain extensions to block the other stats suddenly. Wish someone would figure this out... Edited October 30, 2016 by Mike Fitz Quote Link to comment

Wish someone would figure this out... Your page shows just fine for me. I expect it something cached on your browser, and even though you might "clear your cache", it's still being cached. If you want to check, open a new Incognito Window in Chrome and load your page in that new incognito window after you log in and you should see your your stats. It's not, from what I can tell, an issue with geocaching.com for them to "fix". Quote Link to comment

I thing it is an issue they should fix, because they changed something just a few weeks ago and the change is colliding with several chrome extensions. We know about GC Little Helper and chromeIPass, but there are people who have this issue and don't use either of them. So there must be more problematic extensions. Quote Link to comment

It happens on multiple machines and is affecting many people, browsing in Incognito mode works because the extensions aren't loaded that are affecting the profile section. Not a real fix if you wan't to use extensions.Something changed, I don't know who needs to fix it but wish someone would. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
Do you really expect web sites to support third-party browser extensions? IMHO, if a third-party browser extension breaks a web site, then the problem is with the third-party browser extension, not with the web site. Quote Link to comment

It's difficult enough to develop a web site that will work with all the recent versions of all the major browsers. Quote Link to comment

IMHO, if a third-party browser extension breaks a web site, then the problem is with the third-party browser extension, not with the web site. With the only exception that the third party plugin relies on valid code, but the page has some errors. This seems not to be the case here - despite the block element which is nested in an inline element (p inside a span) I already mentioned before - but should be considered generally.
