doktorfunk Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Hi, Is there any way to find archived caches that you haven't already got a personal pointer (watchlist, log entry) for, either in pocket queries, searches, or on the map? There's a "blank area" I'm thinking of putting some caches in, but I'd like to see if there's any history of archived caches in it, in case there have been problems with vandalism. Thanks. Quote
cheech gang Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Short answer is no. You may try contacting the reviewer to see if there were any past issues with the area. Quote
Touchstone Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Good question. I believe there's a way to search for archived listings on project gc but I've never used it. Quote
Cachez Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 You can use Map Compare on Project GC to show archived caches. Quote
Wildcat314159 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I think it is possible, but tough. So, basically, no. Quote
on4bam Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I have all archive Belgian caches in a database. Years ago I downloaded a GPX with archived caches and I kept it up2date since then. Has come in handy a few times solving mysteries where coordinates for archived caches was needed. Quote

Cachez Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I've found Project GC a bit crash-prone recently, but you CAN see archived caches using Map Compare, I assure you! I've done it many times. Quote

hzoi Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Yes, it is a handy tool to see whether the spot one is eyeing for a new cache has been problematic in the past. Quote
