+PF68
I've been thinking about hiding my first cache and I found a nice spot while I was out today but I'm not sure if it would be within the guidelines. It would involve gluing magnets to the inside of a drain pipe. Thoughts? Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
When you ask permission of the land manager, mention the magnets. If they give explicit permission, you can tell your reviewer that. Then set up your listing before doing any physical changes to the location, and state in the notes that it is NOT ready to publish, that you have explicit permission for this method of attachment, and what the method of attachment is. If the reviewer OKs it, you're good. If not, you're not out anything but the time to get permission and set up the listing. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
When I think drain pipe, I think of the big, corrugated steel drainage pipe under roads. Steel and magnets work without glue. What kind of "drain pipe" do you have in mind? As often the case, TriciaG's kung fu is strong. Quote Link to comment
+PF68
Thanks TriciaG, I have made some inquiries on who to ask for permission and will take your advice when I find out. cerberus1 It's not really a drain pipe I suppose, but a concrete culvert to allow water to flow under a road. I was hoping there would be some pre-existing cracks or some way to hide a cache in there as is but I didn't find any. Edited June 26, 2016 by PF68 Quote Link to comment
+wmpastor
Gluing won't quality, I think. Is there some item nearby where you could use a zip-tie or similar? Quote Link to comment
+PF68
Nowhere I would really be happy with. I think that if it won't qualify I might just wait until I have an idea for a different area. Quote Link to comment
Cascade Reviewer
If you are able to get permission from a land owner, and a reviewer is willing to publish the cache, make sure to state on your cache page that you have permission for the way the cache is hidden. Hopefully this will help finders know to not emulate the cache hide without getting permission themselves. Quote Link to comment
